The story that first ran in The Post-Crescent four months ago had to put it in the form of a question: “Is Amazon, the e-commerce giant, coming to Greenville?”

Amazon, the country’s largest e-commerce company, had plans to put a delivery hub in Greenville, but wouldn’t confirm it.

The town had no public records that said its name.

Ryan Companies US Inc., the developer that built and owns the 110,000-square-foot building, signed a non-disclosure agreement and couldn’t talk about it.

The building rose at W6331 Wally Way, a few blocks north of the Appleton International Airport along County CB in the Greenville Business Park.

To date, all that identified the building was a handmade sign, shown here.

Now, a permanent sign permit application filed with the town finally shows the Amazon name.

Signs read “Amazon Delivery” and “Amazon Hub.”

The town approved the permit June 16, so signage could appear at any time.

The distribution building is not a warehouse. It’s about the size of two football fields, which is far smaller than one of Amazon’s warehouses, and will be used to sort and distribute packages.

Town administrator Joel Gregozeski said back in March that the then-unnamed project was welcome because it brings in additional tax base and jobs.

Ryan Companies told town officials that the facility would have 140 to 160 permanent full-time jobs and 60 seasonal employees.

Amazon.jobs listed some of those Greenville jobs over the past week.

“It’s my understanding that the company is hoping to be fully operational sometime this month,” Gregozeski said Thursday.

The project is in the town’s tax incremental financing district. It’s eligible for a return of about $1 million in incentives over seven years on a building value of $19 million. The town approved a pay-as-you-go TIF agreement with the building owner Ryan Companies.
