Starting something new can be challenging at times. Trying to adjust to whatever it may be is something that people have a complicated thing doing, but we can be set in our ways and never want to change.
One of those things that can be difficult to change is our healthy lifestyle. We may not know it or look at it, but you could be living an unhealthy lifestyle without even knowing it. Let’s get this straight: those who you “think” is in shape, and doing good could be living an unhealthy lifestyle.
Taking care of our physical and mental health as well as a part of building up a healthy lifestyle. Taking that first step and realizing that you need to change this in your life is already taking the first step into maintaining a healthy lifestyle, so be proud of yourself that you’ve done that.
Starting a healthy lifestyle will take time, but that’s okay because, with progress, there comes time. If you need a little help getting there, here is a simple guide to start living a healthy lifestyle.
Identify bad or unhealthy habits in your life that you want to change
Make sure that you know and identify those unhealthy habits in your life. If that’s difficult for you to do, then write down a list of things that you want to do better health-wise and pick from there. When you know, those also make sure you note and remember why you are doing this in the first place, this could also keep you motivated in the end.
Remember that you’re accountable for your actions.
This means that you need to hold yourself accountable for your actions because you are the only one doing this. You have to remember that no one else is doing this, but you and no one else stops you from doing anything—time to stop making excuses because it’s not going to work here.
Block out the negativity
If you have anything or anyone that is not helping you out but is instead putting you down, then you need to block whatever it is out and focus on the positive. If social media is your downfall and that’s where your negativity is coming from, delete it. You are here to push forward with a healthy lifestyle, not backtrack. Also, a tip of advice from myself is that I don’t follow those healthy accounts or weight-loss accounts because they can do more harm than good. That’s when you start to come yourself to others, and that’s a big no-no. Remember everyone’s journey is different from others.
Know that it takes time
This is a big one most think that they are going to change and become adapted to a new diet in a week or have that body that they want in two weeks, and that’s not the case at all. That’s something that I had to tell myself and engrave into my mind that things like this take time. You can become healthy but not in two days, let your mind and body adapt to the change and I promise you will see progress.
Set Goals and Believe in Yourself
Always try to set some goals for yourself; it can help you stay on track and keep you motivated. If you want to create a calendar for yourself, go ahead and do it and put little notes and goals on the timeline of how far along in your healthy lifestyle journey you want to be. Maybe you’re slowly taking yourself off bad foods. Lastly, believe in yourself and stay positive, keep a positive outlook, and motivate yourself every day.
