Each week, Netflix hosts a “Top 10” feature on its platform. This list is largely dominated by shows (often Netflix-produced) that are incredibly binge-worthy during these coronavirus times.

But there also happens to be a movie-centric list that tracks what films are moving up and down the rankings with each passing day. Several of these movies aren’t featured in the broader top ten list and often go unnoticed.

Several of these movies gain traction from out of nowhere, but often they are trending due to their recent addition to Netflix. If you’d like a complete list of all the movies on Netflix in June 2020, you can check out that guide here.

Here are the Top 10 movies on Netflix for June 17, 2020.

10. The Darkness (2016)

The Darkness didn’t much a ton of noise when it came out in 2016. But over the past week, it’s roared onto Netflix’s Top 10 for movies. The horror/thriller stars Kevin Bacon as Peter Taylor, whose family is terrorized by strange events. In particular, his son exhibits increasingly erratic behavior.

The Darkness stars Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, Jennifer Morrison, Lucy Fry, David Mazouz, Ming-Na Wen and Paul Reiser. The film was directed by Greg McLean.

9. Clueless (1995)

Amy Heckerling’s classic 1990s hit has played huge on Netflix in recent weeks, mostly due to its recent addition to the streaming platform’s catalog. Clueless stars the vapid Cher, who wants to make more of her high school existence. The film then follows her on a series of events where she tries to help others—and find love herself.

Clueless stars Alicia Silverstone, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, Dan Hedaya, Elisa Donovan, Justin Walker and Wallace Shawn. The film was directed by Amy Heckerling.

8. The Night Clerk (2020)

Not many movies had the chance to be released in theaters in 2020—but The Night Clerk has been one of the precious few. It was also one of the few movies to be added to Netflix this past weekend. This crime drama follows a desk clerk who gets wrapped up in a murder investigation that involves his hotel.

The Night Clerk stars Tye Sheridan, Ana de Armas, John Leguizamo and Helen Hunt. The film was directed by Michael Cristofer.

7. The Help (2011)

In the wake of this country’s current reckoning with racism, The Help became the top-viewed film on Netflix not long ago (although it has slowly moved down the list since). The movie centers on a Southern woman named Skeeter who interviews the black women in her small Mississippi town for a story she’s writing.

The Help stars Jessica Chastain, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, Allison Janney, Octavia Spencer and Emma Stone. The film was directed by Tate Taylor.

6. Despicable Me (2010)

Despicable Me may be ten years old at this point—but its presence on the Netflix Top 10 should be no surprise, considering that the Despicable Me series is the most profitable franchise ever at the box office. The animated film stars Steve Carell as the supervillain Gru, who is on a mission to steal the moon.

Despicable Me stars Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Russell Brand, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove, Will Arnett and Julie Andrews. The film was directed by Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud.

5. Magnetic (2018)

Everyone knew that Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods would own a roaring start in its Netflix debut—but the addition of Magnetic to the Top 10 was truly a surprise. This documentary tells a tale of male and female athletes from around the who are attracted by the “magnetic force of unleashed elements.”

Magnetic stars Tom Barrer, LIam Whaley and Wille Lindberg. The film was directed by Theirry Donard.

4. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009)

Some may be surprised by this 2009 film’s presence on the Netflix Top 10. But for years, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs—which was directed by the team of Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who made the 21 Jump Street films—has owned a cult-like following. The animated movie centers on Flint Lockwood, who builds a machine that converts water into food. Naturally, he then makes food rain all over town.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs stars Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell, Mr. T, Bobb’e J. Thompson, Benjamin Bratt, Neil Patrick Harris, Al Roker, Lauren Graham and Will Forte. The film was directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

3. The Guest (2014)

Another surprise welcome to the list, The Guest is a thriller that’s gained prominence over the years. The film focuses on a string of mysterious deaths that causes a young man to suspect a soldier who recently entered his family’s life to be responsible.

The Guest stars Dan Stevens, Maika Monroe, Leland Orser, Sheila Kelley, Brendan Meyer and Lance Reddick. The film was directed by Adam Wingard.

2. Da 5 Bloods (2020)

Despite the overwhelmingly hype surrounding Spike Lee’s first feature since 2018’s BlacKkKlansman, Da 5 Bloods couldn’t quite make the top spot today. The film follows four black soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War. Years later, they decided to return to the country to retrieve a hidden gold fortune.

Da 5 Bloods stars Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mélanie Thierry, Paul Walter Hauser, Jasper Pääkkönen, Jean Reno and Chadwick Boseman. The film was directed by Spike Lee.

1. 365 Days (2020)

Surprise, surprise. The latest movie sensation focused on erotica has held onto its No. 1 spot for several days now. This 2020 Polish film follows a woman named Laura, who is kidnapped by a mafia boss named Massimo. He plans to imprison her for 365 days—during which he hopes she’ll fall in love with him.

365 days stars Anna-Maria Sieklucka, Michele Morrone, Bronisław Wrocławski, Otar Saralidze, Magdalena Lamparska and Natasza Urbańska.
