A quick update of some local openings, closings and reopenings.

Closing permanently

Aerus Electrolux, a longtime vacuum cleaner shop, will close at the end of the month at 235 N. Casaloma Drive in Grand Chute. Service and supplies will still be available in the greater Fox Valley by appointment by calling 920-730-8787. Employee Ron Lacroix, who will continue to repair vacuums going forward, said the shop’s closure had been in the works well before the coronavirus outbreak due to the owner’s unrelated health concerns and planned retirement. The shop is currently open with a limit of five customers at a time.

Not opening

The seasonal Mike’s Popcorn stand that opens every summer on Wisconsin Avenue in Appleton will skip this summer due to COVID-19 concerns. Its local popcorn is still for sale at Sam’s Club, Festival Foods, Woodman’s and Piggly Wiggly.

Opened

Taco House opened Wednesday at 135 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Appleton for carry-out and delivery. Its menu includes $2.99 tacos, $8.99 quesadillas and $10.99 burritos or tortas. Info: tacohouseappleton.com or 920-364-9362.

The building it leased was most recently Los Tres Manantiales, an Oshkosh-based food business that continues to operate a food truck and catering.

Reopening

Manderfield’s Home Bakery will open its Grand Chute shop on Wednesday. The bakery has one other location open, in Darboy. The Menasha branch remains closed at this time.

Optical shops reopening

Glasses shops started to reopen this week with lots of restrictions.

Shopko Optical locations in Grand Chute, Appleton and Neenah are now open by appointment only. Staff and patients must wear masks, and all will have temperatures taken with touchless thermometers. Patients are asked to come to alone.

Valley Eye opened its locations in Appleton and Grand Chute. Masks must are worn by patients and staff, and temperatures are taken at the door. It also offers virtual appointments.
