Mary-Kate Olsen and her husband of less than five years, Olivier Sarkozy, have split — but the court system is blocking them from formally starting divorce proceedings. TMZ reported that the child actress-turned-fashion mogul actually tried filing for divorce in New York in mid-April, but she was informed that New York City courts would not accept divorce filings due to the COVID-19 pandemic unless that filing was an emergency, which she claims it is. “This application is an emergency because my husband expects me to move out of our home on Monday, May 18, 2020 in the middle of New York City being on pause due to COVID-19,” she said in her paperwork. “I am petrified that my husband is trying to deprive me of the home we have lived in and if he is successful, I will not only lose my home but I risk losing my personal property as well.” She claimed that the only way to protect her property is through a divorce filing, which would trigger an automatic court order preventing him from disposing of her property. On May 14, however, a judge told Mary-Kate that her divorce petition didn’t meet the criteria for being an emergency and denied her request. There is speculation that she could file in another New York county.

Home again

Siegfried & Roy will never be apart. On May 10, Siegfried Fischbacher revealed that his longtime stage partner Roy Horn had been cremated, but said that the entertainer’s ashes will stay at the Las Vegas estate they shared, which is known as Little Bavaria. “His urn stays with me,” Siegfried told German publication Bild. “I put it in our chapel. We discussed that during our lifetime. Roy never let his mother Johanna’s urn and that of our deceased animals be buried, but kept them in his bedroom.” Roy, who famously survived an on-stage tiger attack during a 2003 Siegfried & Roy stage show in Vegas, passed away on May 8 from COVID-19 complications. “I’m not coming back [to Germany],” Siegfried said. “Roy built ‘Little Bavaria’ for me; I will never leave that. He is everywhere. In the house, in the garden. He has now walked through the gates of heaven, but his soul has stayed with me. Little Bavaria has now become a monument to friendship. And Roy’s home remains forever.”

He’s awake!

After being unconscious for about six weeks due to COVID-19 complications, Broadway star Nick Cordero has awakened. “He is awake,” Nick’s wife, Amanda Kloots, said on May 12. “It’s just that Nick is so weak right now that even opening his eyes, closing his eyes, takes out, like, all of his energy.” While this was certainly good news, the Tony-nominated star isn’t out of the woods yet, his wife warned, particularly given what he’s been through since entering the emergency room on March 30. In a lengthy Instagram post, Amanda said that her husband was intubated on a ventilator on April 1. Just over three weeks later, he had his right leg amputated after dealing with blood clots. While unconscious, he’s also suffered two mini strokes, septic shock, fungus and holes in his lungs, and he needed a temporary pacemaker to assist his heart. However, Amanda noted, his “mental status is looking good.”

Twitter fury

After Khloe Kardashian was hit with pregnancy rumors (and a lot of ridicule,) she hit back. “I don’t go on social platforms much these days AND this is one of the main reasons as to why I stay away. The sick and hurtful things people say. I am disgusted by so many things I am seeing. SMH people swear they know everything about me. Including my uterus. Sick,” the mom of one tweeted on May 13. “The nasty things you’re saying about me over A RUMOR! I have seen so many hurtful/despicable stories and tweets about me over a false story. And if it were true…. it’s MY LIFE, NOT YOURS.” The pregnancy rumors appeared to be sparked multiple blogs alleging that the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star was posting old photos of herself on Instagram and noting that new images were being cropped above her stomach. Social media was largely disappointed, as they assumed the father of the would-be baby was ex Tristan Thompson, who has a spotty record of being faithful to Khloe. The reality TV star, for the record, says she’s not pregnant.  

$200K rejected

No good deed goes unpunished, right? On May 12, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (real name: Daniel Hernandez) attempted to give a $200,000 donation to No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit organization that helps feed children who’ve lost access to school meals because of COVID-19. The organization, however, said thanks, but no thanks. “We are grateful for Mr. Hernandez’s generous offer to donate to No Kid Hungry but we have informed his representatives that we have declined this donation,” the organization said in a statement. “As a child-focused campaign, it is our policy to decline funding from donors whose activities do not align with our mission and values.” The recently incarcerated rapper blasted No Kid Hungry for rejecting his six-figure offer. “@nokidhungry rather take food out the mouth of these innocent children,” he wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post, adding, “I never seen something so cruel.”

Trouble in paradise?

Tensions between Kim Kardashian West and husband Kanye West are apparently growing, according to a new report. In early May, reports emerged claiming there was a building rift between the reality TV star and the rapper, and now it seems things are getting worse while the duo quarantines at home. The problem, according to multiple reports, centered on Kim’s belief that she’s having to shoulder most of the parenting load for their four kids. “Kim feels like she needs some space from Kanye,” a source told Us Weekly on May 13. “She is trying to be a great mom, focus on [her] law [studies] and her work commitments and it’s hard to do all of this without Kanye helping as much as he can.” Kimye has allegedly been arguing a lot thanks in part to Kanye’s “super-controlling” nature. “Kim’s been feeling as though he’s been trying to impose his views on her life,” the Us source said. “They’ve had more time together to talk about their feelings, about the kids, her law career goals and his business ideas… She’s trying to keep her family together, especially for the kids’ sake.”

Sad news

Melissa Etheridge’s 21-year-old son, Beckett Cypher, is dead from an opioid overdose, she announced on May 13. “Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction,” the singer wrote on Twitter. “My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends. My heart is broken.” The rocker thanked people for reaching out after the news broke. “We struggled with what else we could have done to save him and in the end we know he is out of the pain now,” she wrote. “I will sing again, soon. It has always healed me.” Melissa shared Beckett with filmmaker ex Julie Cypher, her partner for a decade. Beckett’s biological father is music legend David Crosby.

Untraditional parenting decision

Earlier this month, Anderson Cooper revealed that ex Benjamin Maisani will co-parent his newborn son, Wyatt Morgan. The duo split in March 2018, so many were confused. While speaking to Howard Stern on May 12, the newsman opened up about why he asked Benjamin to help raise Wyatt. “I don’t really have a family, so my friends have become my family. This is somebody I was involved with for 10 years,” Anderson said. The CNN host explained that the decision also had a lot to do with his own upbringing. “When I was a little kid, it was just my mom and my brother, but it was my mom — she was not the most parental person and I wish some adult after my dad died had stepped in and just been like, ‘You know what, I’ll take you to a ball game.’ Or, ‘Let’s go out to lunch every now and then, and let’s just talk,'” he said. “You know, no one ever did that and so I thought, well if something happens to me or even if something doesn’t happen to me, if more people love my son and are in his life, I’m all for that. You know, my ex is a great guy, and I think it’s good to have two parents if you can.”

Rant!

Rocker Bryan Adams apologized this week after going on a social media rant about the coronavirus — one filled with expletives and directed at Chinese people. The “Summer of ’69” singer said on May 11 that he was supposed to be performing in London but the show was canceled because of “some f—ing bat eating, wet market animal selling, virus making greedy bastards.” One purposes of the post was to implore his fans to go vegan, but his message was lost in, well, his message. On May 12, Brian softened his stance. “Apologies to any and all that took offence [sic] to my posting yesterday,” he wrote. “No excuse, I just wanted to have a rant about the horrible animal cruelty in these wet-markets being the possible source of the virus, and promote veganism. I have love for all people and my thoughts are with everyone dealing with this pandemic around the world.”

Lost legend

Jerry Stiller, a comedy icon whose career spanned six decades, passed away at the age of 92 on May 11, his son, Ben Stiller, announced. “I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” Ben tweeted. “He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.” Jerry’s death was felt by many in Hollywood who considered him a titan in the industry. “He was perhaps the kindest man I ever had the honor to work beside. He made me laugh when I was a child and every day I was with him. A great actor, a great man, a lovely friend. #RIPJerry Stiller I Love you… Yeah I adored this man,” Jason Alexander, who starred alongside Jerry on “Seinfeld” wrote. Leah Remini, who starred in “The King of Queens” with Jerry, said, “I will be forever grateful for the memories, the fatherly talks off screen and for the many years of laughter, the kindness he had shown to me and my family…You will be so very missed Jerry.”
