EIGHT years since its epic finale, iconic teen drama Gossip Girl is finally making a comeback.

But what happened to the show’s alumni and will they be returning?

Ed Westwick, 32, aka Chuck Bass

Gossip Girl without Ed Westwick playing Chuck Bass just wouldn’t feel right

The Brit actor played the Upper East Side bad boy for six series. A year after the show ended, he was cast in an adaptation of Romeo And Juliet, plus other films, including 2015 comedy horror Freaks Of Nature and new WW2 epic Enemy Lines.

Ed also starred in the TV adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s movie Snatch, but then quit the spotlight in 2017 while being investigated for sexual assault claims, which he denied.

The allegations were dropped completely and Ed is now loved-up with South African model Tamara Francesconi.

GG#2 odds: Gossip Girl without Chuck Bass would be like tonic without gin. Hopeful.

Blake Lively, 32, aka Serena Van Der Woodsen

Blake Lively has become a busy A-lister since Gossip Girl – even a cameo would be great

Since playing Manhattan It girl Serena, Blake has not only bagged A-lister Ryan Reynolds, 43, but she’s appeared in movies such as 2018’s A Simple Favour and this year’s The Rhythm Section, where she looked unrecognisable.

She also has three beautiful daughters with Ryan – James, five, Inez, three, and another last August, though they’ve kept schtum about her name.

GG#2 odds: She’s busy being a mum, but a cameo would be good – if the price was right. Promising!

Penn Badgley, 33, aka Dan Humphrey

It’s unlikely Penn Badgley will return to Gossip Girl due to his busy schedule

Penn has been very successful post-GG, most recently in the role of killer Joe in Netflix hit You, which returns for a third series in 2021.

His indie-pop band MOTHXR were signed in 2015 and released their first album, Centerfold, a year later.

In 2017, he married Domino Kirke, 36, a London-born musician and birth doula to the stars.

After multiple miscarriages, the couple are expecting a bubba to join Domino’s son Cassius.

GG#2 odds: He’s a busy boy and has new-dad duties. Doubtful.

Jessica Szohr, 35, aka Vanessa Abrams

Jessica Szohr isn’t as busy as her other castmates, so she should could be up for the role

After playing Dan’s loyal GF until season four, Jessica left GG with dreams of making movies, then returned for guest appearances in the final season.

On top of parts in films such as 2015’s Ted 2, she’s acted in TV show Twin Peaks.

She revealed last year that she has a fella, who’s reported to be Canadian ice hockey star Brad Richardson, 35.
GG#2 odds: She’s not as busy as she’d like, so could be keen.

Chace Crawford, 34, aka Nate Archibald

Chace Crawford has previously expressed interesting in making a cameo in the reboot

He starred in 2012’s What To Expect When You’re Expecting, but the GG heart-throb’s biggest gig has been Amazon Prime series The Boys, in which he plays Aquaman-esque superhero The Deep.

As for his love life, Chace was recently papped in LA walking with ex-girlfriend Rebecca Rittenhouse.

They split last year, but have they rediscovered their love in lockdown?

GG#2 odds: He has previously said: “I would make a cameo on the show – I’d have to!” Get ready to swoon again.

Leighton Meester, 34, aka Blair Waldorf

Leighton Meester recently complained about the show’s long hours on set – so it’s unlikely she’d return

Leighton now plays hilare Angie D’Amato in ABC’s Single Parents, alongside husband Adam Brody, 40. The couple, who are parents to daughter Arlo, four, have another on the way.

She’s also starred in films such as 2014’s The Judge and endorsed brands Jimmy Choo and Reebok.

In a recent interview she grumbled about 16-hour days spent on set.

GG#2 odds: Zero desire to go back. All bets (and head bands) are off.

Taylor Momsen, 26, aka Jenny Humphrey

Taylor Momsen is far too busy with her successful band The Pretty Reckless to return to Gossip Girl

She played Dan’s younger sister until season four, when a full-time music career beckoned.

Taylor’s hugely successful rock band The Pretty Reckless have put out three albums since forming in 2009, with a new album and rescheduled tour for autumn.

Taylor’s come a long way since her screen debut playing Cindy Lou Who in 2000’s How The Grinch Stole Christmas, but outside acting and music fame, little is known about her.

Save for a rumour that she dated Paul Weller’s son Natt in 2011, she keeps her private life close to her chest.

GG#2 odds: Far too consumed by rock music and being a rebel. Not on your nelly.

GG#2 odds: She’s officially been announced as the series narrator again. Winner!
