Rosario Dawson joins ‘The Mandalorian’
SlashFilm reports Rosario Dawson will appear in season 2 of “The Mandalorian” as Ashsoka Tano, a character who previously appeared in the animated “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Rebels.” Ahsoka, co-created by Dave Filoni and Geroge Lucas, has never appeared in live-action form before. The character was Anakin Skywalker’s Jedi padawan apprentice and famously carries two lightsabers, including a shorter shoto-style blade. Dawson has not confirmed the casting, but previously told “Good Morning America” it “would be amazing” to play Ahsoka. “The Mandalorian” season 2 is due on Disney+ later this year.
NBC News staffer dies of coronavirus
NBC News staffer Larry Edgeworth has died after testing positive for coronavirus, “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie announced Friday. “My heart breaks this morning at the loss of NBC audio technician Larry Edgeworth due to COVID19,” she wrote on Instagram. “I adored Larry… he was always a joy. He loved his work and excelled at it. He loved his colleagues and boy did we love him.” According to ET, Edgeworth had worked at NBC for 25 years and worked frequently on travel assignments. “Larry Edgeworth was a giant both physically and emotionally,” SUNY Oswego alum Al Roker said. “You were always in good hands when he was on your crew. A tremendous loss.” Edgeworth is survived by his wife and two sons.
‘Shaun of the Dead’ spoof
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are spoofing “Shaun of the Dead” with an updated version of “The Plan.” The 2004 zombie comedy followed two lifelong friends who try and avoid the apocalypse by hiding out at a pub. Now that we’re being told not to self-isolate and not go to bars and restaurants, the pair is giving fans new advice (and lightening the mood) in the coronavirus pandemic.
