Ruth Langsford has pulled out of hosting Friday’s This Morning after falling ill, her husband Eamonn Holmes has announced.
The presenter, 59, is a “bit under the weather” according to Eamonn, who revealed he will be hosting Friday’s show alongside Rochelle Humes instead.
Taking to Instagram to share a snap of them together, the Irish presenter shared the news as he spoke on behalf of his wife.
Eamonn, 60, wrote: “In 4 Ruth. The Bad News is Ruth a bit under the weather today.
“The Good news is Rochelle and I will pair up again. A delightful friend and colleague and Always a joy to be around.”
Fans rushed to wish Ruth well, with one writing: “Hope Ruth is feeling better very soon.”
A second added: “Get well soon Ruth – it’s not the same without you!”
While a third wrote: “Ah miss Ruth, get well soon. Love Eamonn and Rochelle is fabulous.”
It comes after Ruth and Eamonn exclusively opened up to OK! magazine on their marriage ahead of Ruth’s 60th birthday later this month.
Having spent almost half of her life on our screens, Ruth’s warmth and honesty has firmly embedded her in the hearts of the nation.
Her relationship with husband Eamonn Holmes has proved a success, both on and off screen, and the pair have been part of the This Morning family since 2006. Their light-hearted bickering keeps viewers entertained, but behind the scenes the pair admitted they truly are “soulmates”.
Ruth explained: “He makes me feel very loved.
She added: “Our love is very deep. We’re like an oak tree. Things flap about in the wind, we bicker, we disagree, but actually our roots are solid, we’re very together. He knows me better than I know myself sometimes.”
The couple tied the knot back in 2010, and are parents to 18-year-old son Jack, who has often been mortified by his parents’ on-air innuendos.
Ruth later joked: “In all the years Eamonn and I have been together, we have never broken wind intentionally…never in a million years would you see me lit my leg and let one rip!”
