Get ready Gossip Girl fans, because the cast has finally been revealed for its highly anticipated reboot!

HBO Max is rounding out the ensemble cast for the hit upper-east sider drama. Stars such as Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford and Ed Westwick became household names from the original series that first made the pop culture phenomenon in 2007.

For the upcoming reboot, Tavi Gevinson (Scream Queens) is set as a lead, along with Thomas Doherty (High Fidelity), Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal). Zion Moreno (Claws) also joins, after it was previously announced Emily Alyn Lind will be cast as another lead, reported Deadline.

The 10-episode series hails from Joshua Safran, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros TV and CBS Television Studios.

Like the original Gossip Girl, the new 10-episode series is based on the book by Cecily von Ziegesar. Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl.

Blake Lively reveals whether she will be returning in the ‘Gossip Girl’ reboot

The prestige series will address just how much social media, and the landscape of New York itself, has changed in the intervening years.

Gossip Girl ran for six seasons from 2007-2012 on the CW across 121 episodes. Its influence extended beyond television and had a major impact on fashion.

Fans were left disappointed in January when Lively, who has since become a Hollywood star, addressed the rumours about the possibility of her returning as everyone’s favourite blonde socialite Serena van der Woodsen for the reboot.

Although Kristen Bell has been confirmed as returning as the show’s anonymous all-seeing narrator, Lively will not be joining the cast.

The mother-of-three clarified that she’s “not involved” in the project at the premiere of her new film, The Rhythm Section, according to E! News.

When asked about the reboot she responded, “I think it is happening… I don’t know, I’m not a producer, I’m not involved. You’ve got to call them!”

There is still no confirmation on who will be the next Serena or whether the character will be seen in the new series.
