Over a year after the first time he teased its title, Lil Uzi Vert has released a cinematic new trailer for his upcoming album Eternal Atake. The video, directed by Gibson Hazard, casts Uzi as an office worker whose day is disrupted by the appearance of mysterious coordinates. The resulting adventure ends up with the young rapper being abducted by cultists in a UFO. Watch that below, and check out the new album’s artwork.
Eternal Atake—which has yet to receive a release date—will be Lil Uzi Vert’s follow-up to 2017’s Luv Is Rage 2. Since that album, he’s released singles including “New Patek,” “That’s a Rack,” “Sanguine Paradise,” and “Free Uzi.” The latter track is one the rapper self-released in March 2019; Atlantic Records has called the song “a leak” and “not official.”
Uzi has done features for plenty of artists in the time since his last album, including Young Thug, A Boogie, G Herbo, Yo Gotti, and Chief Keef. His most recent single “Futsal Shuffle,” released at the top of 2020, came with its own dance routine.
It’s been a bit of a winding road to Eternal Atake. Uzi first explained the title’s meaning in July 2018, tweeting, “Eternal means forever. Atake means 2 overtake. 🌍🌔🌗🌘🌑.” In December 2018, he told a crowd that he was “finally done” with the record. The next month, however, Uzi suggested on his Instagram Story that he was “done with music.” By March, after alluding to label issues, he said that he “wish[ed]” he could release the album for free. Then, in May 2019, five months after declaring Eternal Atake complete, he stated that he’d recently “finished the last song to the album.”
