Stephanie Wrobel
Darling Rose Gold
Despite its status as a rare condition, Munchausen syndrome by proxy has captivated consumers of pop culture. It is central to the plot of critically acclaimed TV shows (most notably Hulu’s The Act and HBO’s Sharp Objects), the topic of widely read books, and the subject of true crime podcasts. But Darling Rose Gold picks up where other stories leave off. The debut novel by Chicago-based author Stephanie Wrobel imagines the dynamics of a mother-daughter relationship after the jig is up—and without spoiling it, the results are grim. On Tuesday, March 31 at 6 p.m., Wrobel will make an appearance at the Lake Forest Book Store to discuss the book, which is already being praised by established authors as one of this year’s must-reads. Refreshments will be served and copies will be available for purchase and signing. For more information visit

Rainbow Connection
Inspired by this month’s cover girls, we are currently forgoing neutral color palettes—in everything from our homes to our jewelry box—for maximalism. Jonathan Adler’s playful, pop art-inspired creations are always a charming way to satisfy such tastes. Take his latest Dripping Rainbow trinket dish: made of high-fired porcelain and highlighted with real gold accents, it’s the perfect accessory for perking up a coffee table or nightstand. Available at Neiman Marcus Northbrook Court or jonathanadler.com.
Restaurant Week
Not that anyone needs an excuse to dine out more often, but here’s a good one: From February 28 to March 8, the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce presents its first annual Restaurant Week. Participating establishments in both villages will be offering deals on delicious specialties, favorite menu items, and signature cocktails. Market House on the Square revealed a tempting preview of their special $42 three-course prix fixe menu—start with steak tartare or Hamachi crudo; progress to a grilled bavette steak or sea bass for your entrée; and finally, finish with an “ooey gooey” butter cake or signature Market House brownie. For simpler tastes, visit their casual sister, Market House Kitchen, where a special Restaurant Week bowl will be available for $9.95.
