Presents are under the tree, cookies are being baked, houses are covered in lights, and Christmas movies and specials will fill the TV networks and streaming services this week. You can find new romances on Hallmark, which has two channels in its Countdown to Christmas format, plus cartoon classics and a range of holiday movies on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, Disney+, Freeform and UPtv.
Specials airing in the next few days include “A Christmas Story Live!” starring Matthew Broderick on Fox on Dec. 24, along with re-runs of animated treasures “Frosty the Snowman” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
The holiday classics run from “Home Alone,” “Elf” and “Christmas Vacation,” to “Polar Express,” “Love Actually,” “A Christmas Story” and the heartwarming oldie “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Such TV classics as “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” run again right before Christmas. Many favorites, such as “Elf” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” will air more than a dozen times before Christmas.
Listings are subject to change; check each network or streaming website for updates.
