Famous Gossip Gets a Series – Television Week

A woman who is known for her gossip is at the center of a new series project that’s in the works for Showtime. The premium cabler announced that its Documentary Films division has a limited docuseries in the works about Cindy Adams.

“Gossip Starring Cindy Adams” (working title) profiles the longtime New York Post columnist who became known as the elder stateswoman of Manhattan gossip. The project will be produced by Imagine Documentaries in cooperation with The New York Post, with Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Ron Howard executive producing.

The series is scheduled to premiere in 2021.

Emmy and BAFTA nominee Jenny Carchman is producing and directing.

“‘Gossip Starring Cindy Adams’ will chronicle the history and rise of Adams and her gossip columns in Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post, the longtime nexus of New York’s quotidian news,” Showtime says in an announcement. “Not only will the project celebrate Adams’ legendary, four-decade career, it will examine the cast of celebrated and often notorious characters that have emerged from her writing, as well as the legacies of other storied journalists within her orbit.”
