‘Gossip Girl’ Is Leaving Netflix – KFI AM 640

Say it ain’t so! As if it wasn’t bad enough that The Office and Friends are set to depart Netflix, it’s just been announced Gossip Girl will leave the streaming platform, as well. That’s right. Serena, Blair and the rest of the Upper East Siders will have a new streaming home in the new year. Here’s everything you need to know.

Despite having a streaming home on Netflix for a number of years —like many of the show’s CW contemporaries like One Tree Hill and Gilmore GirlsGossip Girl will only be available to stream on HBO Max in the near future. There’s still some time until HBO Max launches, so, you can still binge Gossip Girl on Netflix for the time being. HBO Max has reportedly required the rights to a number of other CW shows produced by Warner Brothers, as well, so you’ll likely see other CW shows leaving Netflix at some point, too.

So, when exactly will Gossip Girl be leaving Netflix? There’s no official date yet, however, HBO Max is set to launch in May 2020. Gossip Girl fans can expect the show to switch platforms around that time. That’s plenty of time to rewatch the whole series.

If acquiring the streaming rights to the original run of Gossip Girl isn’t enough to convince you to sign up for HBO Max, the reboot of the teen drama will also air on the upcoming streaming platform. While it’s not confirmed if any of the original cast will return for the present day spin off of the beloved show, it’s definitely possible. The reboot is set to take place 8 years after the original show ended.
