Caroline Flack named ‘most dangerous celebrity to search online’ – Sky News

British star Caroline Flack has been given the dubious accolade of most dangerous celebrity to search for online in the UK, according to a cybersecurity firm.

The Love Island presenter knocked US reality star Kim Kardashian off the top of the list by anti-virus company McAfee, so you should probably stay safe and check those links before clicking when searching for your Flack updates.

Each year, the firm compiles an annual report showing searches which could take users to malicious sites – those that potentially contain links to computer viruses and other dangerous content.

Flack, who is due to present upcoming cosmetic surgery show The Surjury and is also a former X Factor presenter, moved from fifth place last year to top the list.

Kardashian, who was most dangerous in 2018, is now a much safer bet, having fallen to 26th place in 2019.

McAfee chief scientist Raj Samani said Flack had become more “dangerous” due to Love Island hitting the headlines this summer.

“Caroline Flack has cemented herself as one of TV’s most sought-after hosts,” he said. “After another year of Love Island dominating headlines in the UK, I’m not surprised she has topped this year’s list.

“People want to keep up to date with the latest pop culture and celebrity news at any time from any device. Often consumers put that speed and convenience over security by clicking on suspicious links that promise content featuring our favourite celebrities.”

McAfee urged internet users to refrain from using illegal streaming sites, warning they are “riddled” with viruses disguised as video files.

It also encouraged parents to take advantage of parental control tools to help better patrol what their children can access online.

Stay safe, searchers.
