Philadelphia Flyers Fall To Vancouver Canucks 3-2 In A Shootout by Benjamin Gabrych

This week’s serving of Broad Street Buzz content you might have missed.

The Philadelphia Flyers started the week with a disappointing move, as they sent goaltending prospect Felix Sandstrom from the AHL to the ECHL, but it didn’t come as much of a surprise.

In other goalie prospect news, 2015 seventh-round selection Ivan Fedotov has been nothing short of spectacular in his first full year in the KHL.

Wayne Simmonds in a New Jersey Devils jersey? Still looks weird. The former Flyers forward made his return to the Wells Fargo Center for the first time since being traded in February as Philadelphia took on their Metropolitan Division foe.

Carter Hart, folks. He’s a good one. The 21-year-old netminder earned his first career NHL shutout as the Flyers beat the Devils 4-0.

Our newest writer Brandon Nutting took a look at why Captain Claude Giroux is a key piece for the Flyers if they want to get back into the playoffs this season.

The Flyers’ top defensive pair was one of the many bright spots in Philadelphia’s win over New Jersey.

Travis Konecny. Also a good one. The six-year, 33 million dollar man has been nothing short of dominant for the Orange and Black to open the 2019-20 campaign.

Hart and the Flyers defense had to come through for a second straight game if they wanted to beat a young and fast Vancouver Canucks squad.

Shootouts are bad and always will be. Philadelphia battled back to bring the game into extras but ultimately fell to Vancouver 3-2 in a shootout, which snapped the Flyers’ two-game win streak.
