It was a whirlwind of a weekend at Paris Fashion Week: Spring 2020 shows included Rick Owens, Off-White, Isabel Marant, Balmain, Celine, Altuzarra, Elie Saab, Comme des Garçons, Thom Browne, Balenciaga, Valentino and Givenchy, to name only a few. Perhaps the amount of full-on, capital-F Fashion on the runways inspired showgoers to go for a tried-and-true sartorial classic: the color black. We love a goth fashion moment.

The street style set opted for all-black looks over the past three days, and the trick to keeping these ensembles from looking too macabre is all about texture. Some showgoers showcased the popular color in shiny sequins, glossy croc or eye-catching ruffles. Accenting with interesting accessories was key, too; we spotted utilitarian or avant-garde body harnesses, ethereal capes and stylish shoes. Who says you need to be covered in rainbow hues to peacock at fashion month?
