Reader comment: Curt Konetzke, our ex-alderman and ex-owner of Bagelicious, is not the one involved with Jimmy John’s on Ballard Road. You spelled that name Kurt Konietzki.
Answer: Yes, that’s right. Curt Konetzke and Kurt Konietzki are two different people.
To complicate matters, they pronounce their last names exactly the same way, kah-net-ski.
“It’s been confusing. I’ve been asked 50 times when I’m opening Jimmy John’s,” said Curt Konetzke, who doesn’t own Jimmy John’s.
He’s currently an Outagamie County board supervisor and chief financial officer of Elexco in Seymour.
The other Kurt says he finds it funny that there’s another person with such a similar name.
“What are the odds?” said Kurt Konietzki. “Curt Konetzke was even our alderman for a while downtown.”
Kurt and Deb Konietzki own five Jimmy John’s locations. He’s is also vice president of Konietzki holdings, a real estate holding company.
Reader question: Have you had any more news of the sub shop opening on N. Ballard Road?
Answer: Jimmy John’s on Ballard Road in Appleton, owned by Kurt Konietzki mentioned above, is inching slowly towards its opening.
“We’ve been working with the city to get some issues resolved. I think we’re very near getting the occupancy permit. Mitigation work is starting today to get the stormwater issue resolved,” said Konietzki.
Reader question: I noticed what looks like one of those construction mobile offices located in a currently vacant lot located off of Bluemound Drive next to Gordon Food Service Store. Could you find out what is going on there? It would be cool if something went in.
Answer: This isn’t an exciting answer. Sorry. The land between Gordon’s and the strip mall is still available, according to the property’s broker.
What you’re seeing is temporary storage of a bank’s trailer.
