Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is out of prison and finally — as he is wont to say — living his best life.
Sorrentino, 38, reunited with his wife, Lauren Sorrentino, with visions of Funfetti cake (a favorite treat) dancing in his eyes.
The “Jersey Shore” star’s Twitter account retweeted celebratory messages from fans after he was released from the federal prison Thursday morning in Otisville, New York.
Sorrentino reported to prison in January after being sentenced in October to eight months for tax evasion. HIs mantra: “The comeback is always greater than the setback.”
While Sorrentino’s castmates have visited him during his sentence, cameras for the MTV revival series “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” were not allowed inside the prison.
The reality TV star, who lives in Long Branch, announced his release from the prison by sharing a GIF of Dave Chappelle raising his hands up and saying “FREE!”
“Turn up we free !!!” Sorrentino tweeted just after 9 a.m.
“Damn we all missed you,” replied “Jersey Shore” creator SallyAnn Salsano, head of 495 Productions, which produces “Jersey Shore Family Vacation.”
Sorrentino’s “Jersey Shore” castmates said on the show that he worked out for two hours a day in prison and got two haircuts a week. His fellow inmates included former Trump fixer Michael Cohen and Fyre Fest founder Billy McFarland, from Short Hills, with whom he was said to play Scrabble.
Sorrentino’s wife, Lauren, had eagerly anticipated Mike’s return this morning. Fans referenced the couple’s plans to have children after “Big Daddy Sitch” — that’s his latest nickname of choice — returned home.
“Now it’s time to make some Little Situations!!!!” one fan posted. Sorrentino retweeted the message, along with notes about Funfetti.
Mike and Lauren Sorrentino got married in November at The Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains. Every part of their wedding was documented for MTV cameras.
“We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life,” Mike Sorrentino said in a statement to NJ Advance Media. “Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort. We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations! We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can’t wait to show the world ours.”
Sorrentino’s brother, Marc, 40, who was sentenced to two years in federal prison, will still be in federal prison in Fairton for another year.
Federal Bureau of Prisons records show he is scheduled to be released on Sept. 28, 2020.
According to an indictment, from 2010 to 2012, Michael and Marc Sorrentino earned about $8.9 million from club and TV appearances Mike made as well as endorsement deals and products. Mike pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion and Marc pleading guilty to one count of aiding in the preparation of false tax returns for income earned in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Next up, The Situation will have two years of supervised release and 500 hours of community service. The third season of “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” is currently airing on MTV — the show airs tonight, aka “Jerzday” Thursday — but you can safely assume that we’ll be seeing Sorrentino’s big moment in episodes to come.
