Everyone knows the superstar power couple that is Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez. The triple-threat performer and baseball legend are engaged, and we can’t get enough of hearing about their incredible romance. Did Lopez know Rodriguez was going to pop the question? Let’s find out.
When did J.Lo and A.Rod start dating?
Lopez and Rodriguez were first spotted together in March 2017 and were confirmed to be dating shortly thereafter. Lopez says that she saw him while she was out one day and they reconnected, after having met years previously. He asked her out on a date, and that’s how it all began.
Both Lopez and Rodriguez have been married in the past. Lopez was married twice for about a year each: First to Ojani Noa in 1997, then Cris Judd until 2003. She was then married from 2004-2011 to singer Marc Anthony. As for Rodriguez, he was married to Cynthia Scurtis from 2002-2008
Both have children from previous relationships
In addition to ex-husbands and wife, both Lopez and Rodriguez have two children from their marriages to Anthony and Scurtis, respectively. Lopez and Anthony have twins Max and Emme, born in 2008. Rodriguez has two daughters, Natasha (b. 2004) and Ella (b. 2008).
It appears as though their blended families are doing well. Having a bunch of kids around the same age clearly makes their time together all the more fun.
Lopez was surprised by the proposal
They’ve been together for a few years now, but Lopez told Jimmy Kimmel she “didn’t know anything,” about the proposal before it happened. “I mean, we had talked about it a little. But I had no idea.”
“He had rehearsals and stuff with his assistant and the housekeeper,” laughed Lopez. “And he Googled when the sun was setting, so he knew exactly [when to propose],” added Kimmel. “He wanted the perfect light,” said Lopez. “He’s hilarious.”
Here’s how Rodriguez proposed
Here’s how it all went down. “We went away for the weekend and, you know, we were walking on the beach,” said Lopez, adding, “I thought he was just trying to be romantic, you know? He set up us eating outside by ourselves. Then all of a sudden, he’s like, ‘Let’s go by the fire.’”
“He said something like, ‘When did you know I was crazy?’ or something like that,” Lopez said. “I said, ‘Pretty much the whole time. I know you’re crazy.’ I said, ‘But I know what I’m signing up for.’ And he just goes down on one knee, and I was like, ‘What — what are you — what are you doing?’”
“But afterward, we were so happy,” she continued. “It was like we were waiting for that. We knew I guess eventually we were going to get there. “
When will Lopez and Rodriguez get married?
So the big question is: When will Rodriguez and Lopez make it official? According to the singer and Hustlers star, they’re not in a rush. They both are very busy, but then again, now that the movie is out and Lopez has finished her tour, we have a feeling that planning will begin.
