You’ve probably heard something about electric vehicles. You may even know someone who knows someone who drives one. Until you’ve ridden in one, it’s hard to understand what all the buzz is about. On September 14, everyone has the chance to learn more about what it is like to own, drive and experience an electric vehicle.
Continuing with its mission to promote sustainability, Green Springville has partnered with local electric vehicle (EV) drivers to promote National Drive Electric Week with an event in Orchard Park. “Battery electric vehicles have come a long way over the past couple of years,” said Reed Braman, Green Springville president. “This is a great chance to show the general public how they easily fit into anyone’s life and answer people’s questions.”
Starting September 14 at 10 a.m., EV drivers will gather at Stohl Environmental located at 3680 California Road in Orchard Park to showcase electric and hybrid vehicles. More than 14 battery and hybrid vehicles have registered, representing nine different car models including the Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf and Tesla Model 3.
Plug In America, the Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association have organized national Drive Electric Week since its debut in 2011 as National Plug In Day. In 2019, Orchard Park’s event is one of more than 304 across the country where electric vehicle owners, government officials and community leaders are holding electric car parades, “tailpipe-free” tailgate parties, ride-and-drives, and other public events.
