Eva Chen buys $25 Target hoodie in Fashion Week emergency – Page Six

When one fashion insider didn’t have time to go home and change before Ralph Lauren’s high-end Fashion Week event with a black-and-white dress code, she wound up inventively grabbing an outfit from Target instead.

Eva Chen — the former editor-in-chief of Lucky who now heads up fashion at Instagram — posted from Lauren’s show, “In a true fashion emergency I wasn’t able to go home and change out of my pink and purple look before the BLACK AND WHITE DRESS CODE @ralphlauren show. So I ran to @target [and] got this sweatshirt and was the most underdressed person at the show.”

The sweatshirt was a white hoodie with a big black-and-white Marvel logo.

According to Target’s website, it goes for $24.99. (It’s also 20% polyester and 80% cotton.)

Chen posed in a pic from the Lauren show with “Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding, and added, “That said, @henrygolding is in purple so…” (The star was in a tux.)

Among those more expensively dressed at the black-and-white fete for 230 VIPs that turned a former Wall Street bank into an Art Deco boite called “Ralph’s Club” for the night were Cate Blanchett, Mandy Moore, NBA star Kevin Love and Anna Wintour.

Janelle Monae performed and blew the roof off the joint by standing on guests’ tables as she crooned.

Models walking the runway in riffs on black tie included Bella and Gigi Hadid.

While Chen’s look was spontaneous, she wasn’t the only one at Fashion Week to go low-budget on the red carpet. Model Irina Shayk wore a $60 H&M skirt to the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS extravaganza at the Plaza, paired with a top from the shop that will go for $129.

Chen didn’t get back to us.
