Superior Lounge is a CBD vape lounge opening in August at 714 Appleton Road in Menasha.

It’s in the same building as Family Dollar and Superior Mobile — a related business — and across the street from Solea Mexican Grill.

The new 18-and-older lounge is modeled after a Middle Eastern coffee shop. It has hookahs with CBD-infused e-juice plus coffee, tea, desserts and fresh juices. The vape juice contains no tobacco.

They’ll apply for a license to serve a limited selection of beers to those 21 and older, though general manager Sam Khatib said Superior Lounge will not be like a traditional bar.

“We thought ‘what can we do here that we would like?’” said Khatib. “Me and my brothers have talked about doing a hookah lounge. Once we found out about vape, we loved it. CBD really sealed the deal. The feeling is relaxation and relief if you’re tense.”

CBD, or cannabidiol, is derived from the hemp plant. It doesn’t give a high like its cousin, marijuana. The FDA approved CBD’s medical use for seizures. As an unregulated supplement, CBD is commonly used to manage anxiety, chronic pain and insomnia.

Khatib’s brother’s fiancee, Waed Alswaleh, is owner of both the mobile phone store and the lounge.
