Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are two of the most well-known people in the entire world. Ever since they went public with their relationship a few years ago, it seems as if fans and news media just can’t get enough.
Everything they do is closely watched, and most everyone is fascinated with every detail of their lives. From the places that they go to, to the details of their new home renovations, every single thing seems to become headline news.
When Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, fans around the world were certainly fascinated. Millions tuned in to watch the royal wedding, and after they officially became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they still attracted plenty of attention.
However, it was all positive attention, with everyone constantly praising their actions, no matter what. In fact, it seems that we hardly ever hear anyone critiquing what Will and Kate are up to.
By contrast, Harry and Meghan get more than their fair share of negative media attention. Is it fair, and do Harry and Meghan deserve more respect than they get?
They have taken several tours in the past year
Although they recently moved into a lavish new residence, Frogmore Cottage, in the countryside town of Windsor, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex certainly have not been sitting at home. They visited Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands, and they were busier than most people can imagine. According to Harper’s Bazaar, Meghan and Harry spent their time concentrating on youth leadership as well as environmental and conservation efforts.
While in Fiji, Meghan focused on women’s empowerment by learning more about a UN Women’s project called “Markets for Change.” After that, she even went to the Suva Market and interacted with women who were empowered by the project.
Meghan and Harry are humanitarians
Just about everyone knows that Meghan and Harry are passionate about being humanitarians, and it is important to them for more than one reason. They fell in love while, according to Good Morning America, working on their philanthropic endeavors.
We are so glad they did because we couldn’t ask for a better way for two people to realize that they are meant for each other.
Fans love them
Whenever Meghan and Harry make appearances, fans line up in the streets to get a glimpse. The Duke and Duchess love interacting with the people who come to see them, and they are often photographed smiling, shaking hands, and appearing as if they are truly enjoying getting to know members of the public.
E! News even reports that Meghan has often broken royal protocol in a good way by going beyond the traditional handshake and embracing fans in a warm hug.
Queen Elizabeth has honored Meghan with two patronages
It would appear that Meghan has definitely received the seal of approval from the queen. Since officially becoming a member of the royal family, she has been honored with not one, but two patronages by her majesty. According to Express, Meghan is the patron of both the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and the National Theatre.
This is a sure sign that the queen respects and admires her granddaughter-in-law, and we can’t blame her a bit. According to a royal expert, it is “significant” to be given two patronages so soon after joining the family.
Do Harry and Meghan deserve more respect than they get?
We would say that they do. The couple goes out of their way to do good things whenever and wherever they can. InStyle reports that people have been bashing Meghan for her clothing choices and the way she holds baby Archie, among other things.
We need to remember that Meghan and Harry are only human, just like we are, and not to criticize every little thing. The Duke and Duchess deserve the utmost respect at all times.
