European gossip: Manchester United in for two fresh targets, Shock move for Cahill – LancsLive

The summer transfer window is in full swing and this is the time of the year when the rumour mill goes into overdrive.

That is epitomised by the latest round-up of transfer news and gossip which includes Manchester United, Monaco, PSV and a bizarre move for one-time Burnley target Gary Cahill.

We’ve reviewed all of the gossip from the continent – and given you our verdict.

Man Utd ‘submit transfer offer’ amid legal dispute

Manchester United have made a bid to sign French wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri amid a legal dispute over his Monaco contract.

The 16-year-old wonderkid appealed to Ligue de Football Professionnel to have his contract terminated after receiving a big offer from the Red Devils.

He argued his first deal was not properly ratified due to him putting pen to paper when under the age of 15 – but RMC Sport report the lawsuit was rejected as Monaco cannot be penalised twice for the same offence.

Likelihood: Quite a bizarre one, that. Hard to weigh in on, given the legal issues surrounding it, but it would be a fresh change in approach for Manchester United.

Man Utd ‘eye Dumfries transfer’

Netherlands international Denzel Dumfries has been identified as a solution to Manchester United’s issues at right-back, according to The Sun.

Having seen bids to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka rejected, United have been forced to explore other options which has led to their discovery of the PSV full-back.

Dumfries is a cheaper alternative to than Wan-Bissaka, with a £25m fee thought to be enough for United to get their man.

Likelihood: It’s hard to see them moving on so quickly from Wan-Bissaka – who seems such a perfect fit – so we take this one with the usual pinch of salt.

Shock Inter move for Cahill?

Gary Cahill could be set for a reunion with Antonio Conte.

Cahill is set to be a free agent when his contract at Chelsea expires at the end of this month and has already been linked with a switch to Villa Park.

But Inter are also tracking the veteran centre-back, according to Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset.

Likelihood: Looks like classic 2+2=5 stuff from Italy, to be honest.
