Reader question: What is CR Meyer building on the southeast corner of Jacobsen Road and County CB?
Answer: It’s a $5 million warehouse/storage addition to Kimberly-Clark’s Cold Spring facility in Fox Crossing.
“It was part of the deal the state worked though with them to keep them in the state,” said George Dearborn, director of community development for the village.
In December, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation awarded K-C up to $28 million in state income tax incentives over five years if it kept the plant open, retained all of its 388 employees through 2023 and made at least $200 million in capital investment at the plant during that time period.
Reader question: When Tuesday Morning vacated the building now occupied by Ecklund’s, it was my understanding they were going to reopen elsewhere. Do you have any updates on them coming back to the Appleton area?
Answer: No. Tuesday Morning closed more than four years ago at 345 N. Mall Drive in Grand Chute. At that time, a spokeswoman said the company was looking for a new location, but it hasn’t reappeared to date. The company’s current spokesman did not return a call asking for information.
The nearest Tuesday Morning is at 805 S. Military Ave. in Green Bay.
The no-frills store is known as a deep discounter of new merchandise including home décor, small appliances, bedding, crafts and gifts.
Reader question: Do you know the old restaurant attached to the old bowling alley on the north side of Black Creek? It is making way for a new Dollar General. This is big news for a small village like Black Creek.
Answer: Black Creek is indeed getting a new Dollar General.
“We are currently under construction on a new location at 609 N. Main Street in Black Creek,” said Dollar General spokeswoman Mary Kathryn Colbert. “At this time, a grand opening is slated for July, but understand that construction progress may alter this date.”
