“Twilight” actor Robert Pattinson, left, will star in “The Batman.”

Robert Pattinson to play the new Batman

It’s official: Deadline reports “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson has been confirmed to play the new Batman in Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman” trilogy. RPatz reportedly beat out Warner Bros’ other finalist, “X-Men” actor Nicholas Hoult, for the new films which will essentially reboot the DC superhero character after Ben Affleck left the franchise following mixed reviews for “Justice League” and “Batman v Superman.” Reeves, whose credits include “Cloverfield” and “War for the Planet of the Apes,” will co-write and direct the movie about Batman’s earlier years with Bruce Wayne in his 30s. A release date is tentatively set for June 25, 2021.

And if you think it’s weird that a sparkly vampire will be the new dark knight, don’t forget previous Batman actors include “Mr. Mom”/”Beetlejuice” star Michael Keaton, Dr. Ross from “ER” (George Clooney), Madmartigan from “Willow” (Val Kilmer), “Newsies” actor Christian Bale, and O’Bannion from “Dazed & Confused” (Affleck). They’re all odd choices if you judge the actors based on one or two previous roles.

‘GLOW’ season 3 first look

The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are headed to Las Vegas in season 3 of “GLOW.” Netflix has released a first look at 10 episodes featuring Ruth (Alison Brie), Debbie (Betty Gilpin) and the rest of the gang struggling both in and out of the ring in 1980s Sin City. The fantastic “GLOW” returns Aug. 9 on the streaming service.
