Facebook was a flutter over the Memorial Day weekend because a post on Mary’s Family Restaurant’s Facebook page read: “We have two locations! Now it’s just a short drive to home-cooked goodness!”
Problem is that Mary’s has just one location, a northside restaurant at 2301 N. Richmond St. in Appleton.
It closed its southside restaurant 2106 S. Oneida St. a year ago and leased that building to the new Maple Tree Restaurant & Pancake House.
“Have you heard about this?” one woman tweeted to The Buzz. Others sent messages via messenger asking what happened.
“That’s was a misprint,” said Tim Huth on Tuesday. He’s owner of Mary’s Family Restaurant with wife Sue.
“I already talked to our media company. I talked to him this morning,” he said.
The Facebook post was taken down.
Maple Tree continues to operate normally, and no, Mary’s didn’t come back.
Huth figures the error was made when his Facebook handler pulled and reran a previous year’s post.
“Memorial Day of last year was the last day the southside Mary’s was open,” Huth said.
Maple Tree co-owner Agron Bekteshi, meanwhile, said his business is “good” and he was unaware of the Facebook kerfuffle.
He and his wife Spresa opened Maple Tree in February.
