The Fashion Project’s mission is to bring economic growth and more awareness of sustainable practices to Shreveport-Bossier through the creation and exhibition of art and fashion. Local artists, designers and models have been given the opportunity to explore the entire creative process within a community of like-minded individuals.
Over the past several months, eight designers have been busy producing a collection of designs from initial concept to final runway with the help of a series of workshops, critiques, and peer support. Each designer will showcase their final collection during this year’s Fashion Project spring show. A panel of judges will choose the top three designers plus a fourth designer as the People’s Choice Award in order to move on to compete in the first official Fashion Prize this October.
“Hosting the Fashion Prize is a dream realized,” says Gregory Kallenberg, executive director of the Prize Foundation. “I have no doubt that the Fashion Prize will have all the glamour and beauty and power that will make Prize Fest glow brighter, and let the rest of the world know that our city is a mecca for creative energy and innovation.”
