Coventry Glassworks & Gallery will close in Appleton in mid June.
The 40-year-old business is located at 514 W. College Ave., on downtown’s west end.
But just like the phoenix that owner Linda Muldoon has depicted in a number of her inspirational stained-glass designs, the business will rise again.
The stained-glass portion of the business will reopen around the end of June as Studio K Stained Glass at 2125 N. Richmond St. in Appleton, which is the former Granary Bulk Foods building.
Kristy Meyer is the new owner. She’s a 17-year Coventry Glassworks employee who knows design, glass window building and installation. She bought the business and will continue its commissioned stained-glass design and restoration work.
“I can’t see my self doing anything else,” she said.
Coventry Glassworks has long been the go-to resource for local churches and public buildings that need stained glass designs and repair.
Current projects include Lawrence University’s Memorial Chapel and All Saints Episcopal Church, which will continue under Meyer.

“I just reconfirmed with Lawrence,” Meyer said. “All Saints knows I’ll be continuing their work with Linda’s help.”
“I’m thrilled that someone is keeping the business going,” said Muldoon. “It’s like having a child and making sure it’s going into good hands.”
Muldoon says she’ll continue as a mentor to the business and will help part-time.
“I don’t know the meaning of retired,” Muldoon said. “I’ll be moving into a small studio for myself to continue to do mosaics and glass painting.”
Meanwhile, she and husband David Mroz have an accepted offer on the downtown Coventry Glassworks building that they expect will be final next week.
Between now and June 15, she’s running a sale on the retail/gallery side.
