Alfonso Cuaron was named best director for his semiautobiographical film, while Richard E. Grant, Ethan Hawke, Melissa McCarthy and Regina King won the acting prizes.
Roma was named best picture of the year by the New York Film Critics Online.
The vote took place Sunday, the same day that the L.A. Film Critics Association also voted Alfonso Cuaron’s black-and-white, semiautobiographical film as best picture of 2018.
In addition, Cuaron was tapped as best director and best cinematographer for his work on the film.
Can You Ever Forgive Me? co-stars Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant were named best actress and best supporting actor, respectively, while Ethan Hawke was voted best actor for First Reformed and Regina King took the supporting actor prize for If Beale Street Could Talk.
Elsewhere, Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara earned best screenplay honors for The Favourite.
The New York critics group met at Lincoln Center’s Furman Gallery inside the Walter Reade Theatre for its 19th annual convocation.
