Every Single Shiny New Christmas Movie for 2018

Hallmark

A New York event planner (played by 90210’s Jessica Lowndes) is sent to a small town to plan their holiday festival. She meets a billionaire, who has no holiday spirit (sound familiar?) and she persuades him to let her throw the event on his massive estate. In typical Hallmark movie fashion, they begin to fall for each other just as the festival begins to fall apart. So things seem like they might not happen for them, but holiday magic might just intervene.

The Nutcracker is one of the most beloved holiday tales, so it makes sense that Disney would take a crack at it. Starring Mackenzie Foy as Clara, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms gets a girl power makeover. Plus, this has Keira Knightley with hot pink hair.

The Vampire Diaries’ Kat Graham is a mall photographer who does the Santa photos. She inherits an antique advent calendar that might be able to predict her future and help her get together with her crush. Straightforward and silly love stories for the win!

Former One Tree Hill heartthrob Chad Michael Murray finally makes his holiday movie debut in Road to Christmas, where an L.A. TV producer, Maggie, falls for him, without knowing that he’s the son of Julia Wise (a Martha Stewart-esque type) who has an annual popular holiday special.

A classic anti-Christmas tale gets a 2018 reboot from the makers of Despicable Me with Benedict Cumberbatch voicing the iconic green grump who is still determined to ruin Christmas for his entire village.

LeAnn Rimes plays an interim school superintendent, who performs multiple musical numbers (of course). When she’s not randomly performing, she has the very difficult job of cutting budgets, including the music department, where her super hot next door neighbor is the teacher.

It’s not a Christmas movie if there isn’t a bakery involved. Thankfully, Christmas In Love focuses on Ellie, who is working in her small town’s bakery making Christmas Kringles. When a big time CEO comes along with a new plan for the bakery that’ll entail many layoffs, Ellie tries to show this bro that people matter, not automation (shout out late stage capitalism!)

Nothing says Hallmark Holiday Movie better than a former fleeting teen heartthrob, and A Veteran’s Promise has Sean Faris. He plays a judge in a small town, who meets Captain Grace Garland, a stranded, decorated U.S. veteran. Don’t worry, Faris gives her a place to stay and shows the Captain the meaning of the season.

Vanessa Hudgens does double duty playing both a Chicago baker and a princess in training when the two decide to swap places. The hot dude Gunnar from Nashville plays a Prince and both women fall in love with dudes who don’t know their real identity.

Starring former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler as Laurel, a former musician turned business exec, this flick follows her as she travels to Memphis to acquire one of the city’s oldest family owned banks. She runs into an old love, who she used to perform with, who is very aggressive about reminding her of her musical past.

Sound the alarm: Kathie Lee Gifford is in a Hallmark Christmas movie playing a supportive Aunt. She invites her niece Paula to her Nantucket home after Paula very reluctantly accepts a proposal from her long-term boyfriend. When Paula gets stuck at a charming inn with the even more charming inn owner Gery, sparks fly as the two end up spending some QT holiday time together.

Sydney, a recent divorcée, spends the holiday season in a house that she recently inherited with her young daughter. She meets a teacher, Mac, who also dresses up as Santa for the small town. Turns out that Mac is determined to make her Christmas wishes come true.

A former competitive ice skater is hired by a king (sure!) to help out his daughter in a Christmas ice skating performance. Again, since this is a Hallmark Movie and the holiday season, the king and the ice skater begin to fall in love—but then comes the tricky thing about royalty. Can a non-royal and a royal make it work?

Wonder Years icon Winnie Cooper (aka Danica McKellar) plays Kelly, an artist, who is burnt out by the competitive Chicago art world and returns to her hometown to chill out. She crosses paths with a handsome businessman, who is assigned to review a hotel, and uses that as a place for a family vacation with his children. Kelly begins to discover her love of art, again, while spending time with him, and seeing the sights of her stomping grounds.

From the people behind Harry Potter and Home Alone, The Christmas Chronicles stars Kurt Russell as Santa, who teams up with two siblings (one of the daughters from Big Little Lies) for a holiday adventure after they catch him on camera. When they crash Santa’s sleigh, they have to work with him to help save Christmas.

Whoever at Lifetime sold a “Christmas movie that doubles as a One Tree Hill reunion” should get a raise and a promotion. Hilarie Burton stars as Jolie, who doesn’t want to face her ex and his new gf after their devastating breakup. So her best friend says she should bring her gorge but flaky brother, Jack (Robert Buckley), home for Christmas. They come up with a plan that is beneficial for both of them.

Darcy, played by Lacey “Her Hair Is Full of Secrets” Chabert, is super successful and has always refused to rely on her father for her accomplishments. When she goes to her hometown, she gets stuck planning an event with her old rival, who is now a restaurant owner. As she spends time with her rival, her family, and in her hometown, she realizes that there’s a lot she might be missing out on.

This one basically should hook you by starring Toni Braxton as the Scrooge character in this A Christmas Carol-inspired movie. She plays Alexis, a money manager, who gets a visit from her past, future, and present to help her find the true meaning of the holiday.

A top lawyer, Lucy (Tatiana Ali), will finally make partner after years of hard work after the holiday season. However, when her older sister unexpectedly dies, she has to go and take care of the arrangements and her estate. She’s not looking forward to going back home, especially because her sister’s attorney is her old high school sweetheart. But when she learns that one of the terms of her sister’s will is to stay there for 30 days in order to inherit their family home, she has to figure out what to do.

Candace Cameron Bure, who is legit Hallmark royalty at this point, is starring in yet another Hallmark holiday movie. Working at a department store during Christmas makes Noelle think about where she’s at in life which ends up depressing her. When she gets locked in the store on Christmas Eve, things get very A Christmas Carol on her when a woman says she’s her guardian angel. Noelle revisits her Christmases (past, present and future) to discover what she should be doing and what new chances she should be taking on (that cute firefighter perhaps).

Anna and the Apocalypse isn’t your typical holiday movie. Take a zombie apocalypse, a musical, and Christmas and smash them together.

After A Christmas Prince took over the internet last year, Netflix has graced us with the sequel about our other favorite royal couple Amber and Prince Richard as they prepare for their upcoming nuptials.

Melissa Joan Hart pairs up with another ’90s icon, Barry Watson. She plays a bakery owner, Kate, who is overwhelmed with work around the holidays and, when her boyfriend breaks up with her, she’s completely over it. But when she wakes up to a soldier named Chip in her living room, she has to figure out if he’s THE Nutcracker Prince. Yes, from The Nutcracker.

It’s 2018, so it’s about time that we have a Christmas movie based around a dating app! Molly, the founder of “Mingle All the Way,” wants to prove that her networking app which pairs busy professionals together for holiday season events works.

While this Hallmark movie doesn’t have the star power of some of the others, it does have quite the plot. Zoey, who has been working toward her lifelong dream of becoming a pilot, somehow inherits a reindeer farm which derails a lot of her plans. So as she tends to the reindeers and the ranch hand that comes along with it, she’s not sure what to do with her life as she and Alec (ranch hand) begin to fall for each other.

The eternally youthful Lori Loughlin, who you loved from Full House, steps down from her cushy CEO job to get some perspective on things. When she heads home for the holidays, she runs into her high school sweetheart who she’s forced to plan a Christmas dance with. As their old dynamic returns, the two begin to find what made them fall in love so long ago.

After Noelle (played by Christina Milian) loses her mother, she inherits everything, including the guy who is responsible for decorating her mother’s lavish Christmas spread. He convinces her to let him continue the tradition as Noelle embraces her mother’s legacy as a Christmas queen.

Smash’s Megan Hilty as Holly, comes home for Christmas to find that her family’s department store is about to foreclose. So she does whatever she can to help, and fills in as a Santa’s Helper to discover that the guy behind Santa’s white beard is a super hot guy named Nick. But when Nick disappears suddenly, Holly has to find him by tracking the one black boot he left behind.

Based on a true story, Heather Kruger (Aimee Teegarden) needs a liver transplant or else she’ll only have a few months to live. When Chris Dempsey (Brett Dalton) hears about Aimee’s need for a transplant, he finds out that he’s a perfect match. And with that one transplant, over three Christmases, a romance is born.

Heidi (Emily Osment) fled her small town as soon as she could to pursue a career in art. But when she has to go home for Christmas to watch her niece and nephew, she ends up seeing an old flame (see a recurring theme?) and offers to help him find a spot for the Christmas dance. As she works alongside her ex decorating for the SnowBall, she feels inspired to start painting again.

Tia Mowry-Hardrict plays Taylor, an architect who gets entered in a “build your own life-size gingerbread house” contest. She doesn’t get along with the French chef that she’s initially paired with, so Taylor begs Adam, a local baker and single dad, to partner with her. When she begins working with him and meets his daughter, she reconsiders her avoidance to make roots somewhere.

There can’t be enough holiday movies about dating apps, so here’s another one. Hannah (Grey’s Anatomy’s Sarah Drew) creator of a failing dating app, always runs into her ex high-school boyfriend when she’s at home. In a slump, she signs up for the town’s anonymous holiday pen pal service and of course falls for the writer of the letters.

Another Full House alum is in this year’s batch of Hallmark Christmas movies. Jodie Sweetin plays Kara, set to become the new face of her mother’s lifestyle brand. But Kara can’t do any of the things that her mom is famous for. When she’s asked to prove herself to the board by helping a young girl welcome her soldier father home, Kara isn’t aware that the girl’s uncle is a journalist looking for a new story.

Elle Bennet might be a workaholic. And that’s proven when she cancels a Christmas party for her college friends to spearhead a Christmas campaign that might change her career with a huge promotion. She’s working on the project with Max, who has a very different view on the holidays.

When Lisa’s brother and David’s BFF breaks his leg, David helps the family of party planners plan a massive New Year’s Eve party for a tech maven. But guess what also happens in the process of party planning? Falling in love!
