Transfer Gossip: Manchester United Want Toni Kroos, Alvaro Morata to Leave Chelsea

The World Cup might be taking a breather for the first time in two weeks, but there’s no such thing when it comes to transfer rumors.

The German was linked with a move to Manchester United four years ago but opted to move to Real Madrid instead. However, it seems unlikely the 13-time European Cup winners would allow him to leave.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Evening News reports Anthony Martial is unlikely to leave United for Tottenham Hotspur, as the two clubs are seemingly embroiled in a spat over transfer fees.

Spurs demanded over $72 million for United’s target Toby Alderweireld, to which United appear to have replied in kind, pricing the north Londoners out of a deal for Martial.

The Frenchman could still leave Old Trafford this summer, amid interest from Serie A giants Juventus.

Alvaro Morata could also be on his way out of the Premier League, just a year after becoming Chelsea’s record signing. Italian soccer journalist and ESPN columnist David Amoyal suggested on the “Calcioland” podcast that the Spaniard has decided he wants to leave Stamford Bridge after struggling to settle in England. Chelsea will demand $91.7 million for the former Real Madrid man.

With the season just six weeks away, Antonio Conte is still technically the Blues’ manager, even though the club has been set to replace him with former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri for over a month.

According to The Sun, Sarri’s appointment is what Daniele Rugani’s move to Chelsea hinges on. The Juventus defender played for two seasons under Sarri at Empoli and earlier this week it was reported Chelsea had made a $46.3 million bid for the Italy international.

The Blues are also looking to Serie A for a new goalkeeper and the Daily Mail believes they have jumped to the front of the queue for Roma goalkeeper Alisson. The Brazilian has long been linked with Liverpool and Real Madrid, but Chelsea are close to agreeing a $81.4 million fee.

The same paper also reports last season’s FA Cup winners have opened talks with the representatives of CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.

Across London, meanwhile, the The Guardian claims Arsenal are close to signing Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund after agreeing a $23.3 million fee with the German club.

Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira is also set to join the Gunners, with The Telegraph suggesting the Uruguayan will cost $34.1 million.

Having left the Arsenal earlier this month, Jack Wilshere is set to complete a move to Turkish club Fenerbache, according to talkSPORT.

Elsewhere, the Daily Mirror claims Everton are looking at Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney as a replacement for Leighton Baines, while West Brom are angry with Watford for offering just $1.3 million for Ben Foster, way short of their $13 million valuation.
