XXXTentacion fans will have the opportunity to pay their final respects to the late rapper during an open-casket public memorial at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., on Wednesday (June 27).
“Fan requests for a public viewing and memorial were overwhelming, we decided to have the memorial at one of [South] Florida’s largest stadiums so we can accommodate everyone,” A|K|W PR’s Aishah White tells Billboard. “Fans will be able to view XXXTentacion’s body and pay final respects, we hope this will help fans find closure and begin the healing process.”
Wednesday’s memorial will include a photo slideshow, video tributes and more, according to White. Cell phones and cameras will not be allowed in the stadium.
XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, died Monday (June 18) after being fatally shot during an armed robbery in Deerfield Beach, Fla. The 20-year-old rapper was ambushed by two suspects as he left an upscale motor sports dealership. The MC, who rose to fame on SoundCloud and recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with ?, was shot while in his sports car.
On Thursday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Dedrick Devonshay Williams and charged him with murder.
