Absurdly Driven looks at the world of business with a skeptical eye and a firmly rooted tongue in cheek.
What is fashion?
Is it whatever fashion houses tell you it is?
Is it what teenage girls in Harajuku, Tokyo are currently wearing and will soon be copied by fashion houses, declared as their own and peddled for thousands of dollars?
Or is it something so indefinable as to only be marveled at when you see it?
Marvel, then, at this.
It’s a new T-shirt from Balenciaga. And it may well be one of the bargains of the year.
Not only do you get a T-shirt, but you get a button-up shirt attached.
Yes, for free.
That’s why it’s called the T-Shirt Shirt.
This is the new @BALENCIAGA
“T Shirt Shirt” to purchase this you’ll need to spend $1,245 ..for a T shirt..with shirt sewed into it…This is not fashion & y’all wrong for finessin

Alright, you might think the shirt is a little pricey at $1,290.
But think of the joyous permutations you can get out of it.
You can also put on the button-up shirt and have a T-shirt draped behind you.
Most delightful of all, people will come up to you and mutter: “Are you completely out of your mind or did you have an unpleasant encounter at the dry cleaners today?”
The whole point of fashion is to have others talking about what you’re wearing. Even better if they come up to you and want to talk about it.
Yes, fashion designers will tell you that you’re supposed to feel good in their clothes too.
But in the modern, socially-mediumized world, the only way we really feel good is if someone’s talking about us.
What brilliance, then, to create something with more one purpose that can incite more than one (incredulous) reaction.
It’s like you’re wearing the whole of Twitter.
You might think that high fashion is fashion created by people who are high.
There might be some rational underpinning to your surmising.
However, what can be more exalted than an artist pulling together two tired old concepts like the T-shirt and the button-up shirt and turning them into something that will never be forgotten?
Like the Segway.
