It’s that time of year, when the back pages around the world are flooded with transfer news, and today is no different.
Transfer gossip, transfer rumours, and transfer speculation – it’s your Monday media round-up!
In today’s media watch City are linked with a France international starlet while Neymar makes an interesting statement about Pep Guardiola.
First up, we start with gossip surrounding teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe.
Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News writes that the Blues are preparing to compete for the on-loan PSG star during the summer.
“Manchester City are ready to compete for Kylian Mbappe if Paris St Germain are forced to abort their plan to sign him this summer,” the MEN journalist states. “With Uefa apparently ready to hit the French giants with a financial fair play (FFP) charge, there are serious doubts over whether they can afford the projected £127million initial outlay for the 19-year-old striker.
“The suggestion is that PSG will have to either abandon their plan to sign on-loan Mbappe, or sell Brazil superstar Neymar this summer.
“City are in the market for a top attacker, and would be more interested in Mbappe than Neymar.”
Brennan also writes that there are two other potential targets for the Blues this summer.
“They are expected to shell out around £130million on two players – probably Napoli midfielder Jorginho and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez – but would bridle at the idea of going above £100million for Mbappe, the kind of fee Monaco would want.
“City were convinced last summer that Madrid had won the race to sign Mbappe, until PSG stepped in with an incredible offer of paying £127million, with £31million in add-ons, at the end of a year’s loan.”

Elsewhere, Neymar Jr is a player on many journalists’ lips after a comment he made about our manager.
Speaking to ESPN Brazil, translated and quoted by The Sun, the Paris Saint-Germain star explained his admiration for Pep.
“I have always wanted to work with Guardiola.” The Brazilian said.
“It’s different, I arrived [at Barca] after he left.
“I really want to work with him.”
Neymar joined Barcelona in 2013, a year after Pep had left the Nou Camp for a sabbatical from management.
The 26-year-old forward has been out of action since February and is continuing his recovery from a broken foot.
