Ok fellas, it’s time to talk. If you want to fight for what’s right, sometimes you have to take the bull by the horns and make it happen! Metaphorically writing, the bull will have been your basics drawer. Who doesn’t love a clean and organized basics. To clarify, when I refer to basics, I am referring to your tees, underwear, socks etc.. And for the record, The menswear basics industry is billion dollar industry. The fact is, many of we consumers are too busy with our hectic schedules or simply uninterested to bother replenishing our basics, that we often times settle for wearing them out until they are essentially dirty, smelly and falling apart. I apologize for being so graphic however, I prefer to make my point. Nevertheless, we consumers haven’t noticed a void in the market for high-quality, easily accessible wardrobe basics for men. Allow me to be blunt; when your underwear, and tees are stained and worn out like a dirty old rag and your socks have holes in them and are mismatched, it is time to throw them out in the trash. Trust me, you can part with it when it no longer serves you any good purpose. I experience the same problem each few months, when I can’t seem to part with an old tee that has been there for me through thick and thin. I have seen many men in an uncomfortable situation at the workplace where they cross their legs only to see an old tattered sock. It surely does not get one noticed on the path of dress for success. In addition to the parting process, I often do not find the time to go shopping for replenishment. And having your girlfriend, wife or significant other do the shopping for you is just so wrong for an adult male to subscribe to. In today’s world, more and more men enjoy purchasing and styling their own wardrobes. And we should. Who better than you to learn about how you wish to dress.
So then what is the answer? Well, here you have it. New York-based husband and wife duo, Michael and Laura Dweck, launched Basic Outfitters in 2015 out of sheer necessity after noticing a void in the market for high-quality, easily accessible wardrobe basics for men. Having just merged lives and closets in a cozy New York City apartment following their wedding, they realized they could no longer hold on to clothes that saw no use and simply took up closet space. Starting with the basics, they eliminated all of Michael’s old underwear and mismatched socks. Yet when it was time to restock the basics drawer, they found their only options were high-priced designer goods or poorly made generic brands. Seeking to bridge the gap between price, quality, and efficiency the idea for Basic Outfitters was born.
