DENVER — There is no reason a summer blockbuster should bust your budget. So, we sat down with Laura Daily, the owner and publisher of MileHighOnTheCheap.com, to find great ways to save on your next movie adventure.
“What’s better than a movie especially when it’s free?” said Daily, “We can save a lot of money.”
1. Get Outside
Inflatable screens and inexpensive projectors make it easier than ever to turn almost any outdoor space into an outdoor theater. We found free movie series all over the Denver Metro.
Here are a few: Infinity Park in Glendale hosts a bi-weekly series of Monday Movie Madness free events from June 11 to August 6. Stapleton’s Movies on the Green happens on select Fridays at dusk. Highlands Ranch has Film in the Park every Friday at dusk from August 3 to 17.

2. AMC $5 Tuesday Tickets
If you’re looking for an indoor deal, AMC Theaters recently launched $5 Tuesday Tickets with a free AMC stubs membership. Every Tuesday, AMC Stubs members can get a $5 ticket to any movie playing at AMC that day by reserving their seat at the box office, online or through the AMC app.
3. Cheap for the Kiddos
Now that school is out, many large theaters are hosting special movie series for the kiddos that can cost as little as 50 cents per movie. Cinemark, Regal, Harkins and Alamo Drafthouse all have kids summer movie deals.
4. Film on the Rocks
Film on the Rocks may be pricier at $15 per ticket, but it includes a concert and a view from Red Rocks you can’t put a price on.
5. Drive-In Double or Triple Feature
The Denver Metro has two Drive-In theaters, Denver Mart & 88 Drive-In, that offer a double or a triple feature for $8-$10 per person.
6. Second-Run Cinema
If you’re patient, the summer movies leave the theaters fast in the rush of new movies coming out. Elvis Cinemas shows second-run movies, right after they leave the theater, and daytime prices are just $3. You can also find Groupon deals and coupons on King Soopers receipts.
7.Gift Card Savings
Costco offers $100 worth of gift cards to theaters such as Regal Cinemas for $80, saving you 20 percent.
