WHAT’S NEW: Google Assistant is expanding its voice options in a very interesting way – adding the dulcet tones of singer John Legend to its arsenal.
Starting in a few months, you can select John Legend to be the voice you hear when you wake up, ask for the weather, remind you of your appointments, recipes and more. His voice won’t be available for everything your Google Assistant can do for you, but what a fun expansion of the voice “flavors” available – with maybe more notable celeb voices to come?
Google will be rolling out six new voices, and it would be really fun if some of them (or maybe more in the future) include those iconic voices like Morgan Freeman, Christopher Walken or Oprah (not like she needs the income!).
WHAT’S TRENDY: Zara has some incredibly cute matching separates for this summer, taking the guesswork out of getting dressed but making you look super put-together.
If you want something flowy and cool, take a look at their polka dot trouser and cami combo, bringing up memories of the brown and white polka dots in “Pretty Woman” (and costing you less than $90 for both pieces).
For those who are really going for a look to remember, an ’80s-style colored pantsuit with a very flowy, flattering silhouette comes in an orchid pink and would be perfect for a wedding or celebration this summer.
Lastly, there is a pencil skirt and crop top pair that is made out of a black knit textile with bright, colorful crochet detailing on the trim of each piece. It kind of reminds me of something you’d find out in an open air market in Mexico, and it would be perfect for a whole range of activities this summer (and this outfit costs less than $80!).
WHAT’S AFFORDABLE: Augusta is fortunate enough to have a whole slew of fabulous nonprofit organizations that work hard to take care of different aspects of our community, and one of my all-time favorites is Historic Augusta.
Historic Augusta works hard to preserve historically or architecturally significant properties in Augusta and Richmond County. Its keynote social event is the Cotton Ball, held each year at a magnificent local historical home.
This year, the Cotton Ball takes place on May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim James on Walton Way. Just like always, the event will feature a catered meal, live music, a cash bar with fantastic mint juleps, and a chance to explore the grounds of a beautiful home.
Admission is by joining, renewing, or current membership with Historic Augusta, and you can do any of those three at https://squareup.com/store/historicaugusta/. Memberships start at $50 for individuals, with corporate and family memberships available as well.
