Celebrities at the 2018 Kentucky Derby

A world-class sporting event naturally brings out a lot of athletes—particularly football players. Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made his annual appearance at the Derby and brought his linemen to Churchill Downs. (Given his position, Rodgers picked Audible to win the race—as did former Super Bowl MVP Von Miller.)

Recently retired Dallas Cowboys tight end also lined up on the red carpet with his wife, Michelle, and Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden was in attendance.

Once again Olympic skaters-turned-announcers (and fashion critics) Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski did not disappoint with their red carpet outfits—Weir showed up at the Triple Crown opener in—what else?—a crown.

Actors always enjoy peacocking at Churchill Downs. This year, ‘Black-ish’ star Anthony Anderson looked dapper in a straw boater and yellow suit, while Blair Underwood took a page out of the Frank Sinatra playbook with a perfectly tipped straw fedora.

Not to be outdone, musicians always turn out for Derby Day. Joey Fatone, Kid Rock and Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman were among the headliners, but Victoria Justice outshined them all.

As for the most interesting celebrity? It would be hard to argue that it was Jonathan Goldsmith—better known as The Most Interesting Man in the World—who cut the most rakish figure at Churchill Downs. On a day known for mint juleps, it’s unlikely he stayed thirsty for long.

Not all the stars have four legs at the Kentucky Derby. While the 150,000-plus fans who head to Churchill Downs for the Run for the Roses are obviously there to watch horse racing, plenty keep their eyes on the stands to see which celebrities are in attendance for the first jewel of the Triple Crown.
