The Handlebar Taproom, a new business specializing in craft beer and burgers, will open at 3 p.m. Thursday at 417 Monument Road, Unit 1, in the Redlands area.

Handlebar will have 24 rotating taps that will change out with every keg that is finished. Owner Adam Kinsey said this should give customers the opportunity to try a new beer every time they come in the taphouse.

The taphouse will have a mountain bike theme and plans to add a bike repair stand, bike racks, pumps and loaner locks.

The restaurant will offer counter service where customers can order at the bar and pick up their food and drinks.

Kinsey said Handlebar is an amalgamation of a few places he and his wife used to frequent in cities such as Denver, San Diego and Baltimore.

“Those were the inspiration, but we tried to modify as best we could for Grand Junction,” Kinsey said. “I think it’s a little unique to the valley.”

Kinsey feels biking is a big driver for the area and wanted to feature that as best as he could. He hopes to serve locals as well as tourists in town to enjoy the area’s amenities. The taphouse will be open 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

■ Palisade’s C&F Food Store would like to assure the public that it is not changing its hours and is still open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Store manager Susan Folnsbee said the store had received several calls after a story in Sunday’s business section of The Daily Sentinel incorrectly stated that the incoming Golden Gate Petroleum gas station would be the only 24/7 business in town.

C&F has kept these hours since opening in Palisade more than two decades ago. The store is located at 208 W. Eighth Ave. and has other locations in Grand Junction and Clifton.

■ A new coffee shop has opened at 2959 North Ave. in the parking lot of the Peach Tree True Value Hardware store.

The Balanced Bean Coffee Company officially opened April 27 and serves as a drive-thru business, although walk-up service is available.

Balanced Bean will be serving Illy Coffee, according to co-owner Jesse Wallace, as well as all-natural syrups imported from the French Alps and teas from a company out of Basalt.

Wallace said the shop must follow strict guidelines to serve Illy coffee, a premium Italian brand.

The store is co-owned by Wallace’s wife, Brooke, and Kevin Brock. There are four employees currently working at Balanced Bean.

Jesse Wallace said the idea for the business came after he took a trip to Italy with Brock in May 2017. He found the coffee to be much better over there and decided to bring the Illy brand to Grand Junction upon returning to town.

The store will be from 6 a.m. to 6:15 p.m. seven days a week.
