What Do You Think of These Celebrity Tattoos?

Tattoos. When they’re good, they’re amazing. And when they’re bad, they’re also kind of amazing but in a different way. Bad tattoos aren’t exactly amazing for the person on the receiving end, but they do make for a good story.

The stakes, however, do get a higher when the ink is located somewhere from the neck up. When it enters face or scalp territory, it all gets a bit polarizing.

None other than sports legend David Beckham recently proved this point when he debuted a mysterious head tattoo that some tabloids are calling cryptic.

What does it mean? See if you can figure it out.

Beckham showed off the art, which includes drawings of flowers, on a recent trip to Macau, according to the Sun.

Some are for it and others are against it. Either way, it’s permanent (unless he’s willing to go through the pain of removal). When it comes to the face, head, and neck, there are some strong opinions.

Zayn Malik

The former One Direction singer recently debuted a new patterned tattoo atop his newly-shaved “SKULL” in the words of Daily Mail. Previously, Malik allegedly inked his on-again, off-agin girlfriend Gigi Hadid’s eyes on his chest as well as a picture of his previous girlfriend, the singer Perrie Edwards, which has since been removed.

Post Malone

Rapper Post Malone has several face tattoos, including a drawing of barbed wire and a sword as well as the words “stay away” above his eyebrow. In an unsurprising twist of fate, Malone told reporters that his mother would like for tattoo artists to stay away and hates his ink.

Birdman

Birdman is the mind behind the major record label Cash Money Records, mostly known for the assortment of tattoos that cover almost the entirety of his face as well as a drawing of a star on top of his head. As of 2017, it was rumored that Birdman was planning to remove the tattoos.

Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson’s face tattoo is pretty much infamous. The former boxer has had the tribal tat for nearly 15 years and though many would expect him to regret it with every fiber of his being, Tyson told Sports Illustrated that he actually feels quite the opposite. “A lot of stuff has happened out of this tattoo, a lot of good stuff,” Tyson said.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), things happen beyond the confines of the face, sometimes easily hidden or others not so much. Plenty of celebrities have made some questionable choices in ink all over their bodies, from their chests to their backs.

Ed Sheeran

Because getting tattoos of animals is always an amazing idea, singer Ed Sheeran decided to get a giant portrait of a lion across his chest. It matches his hair. According to Seventeen, the lion is in honor of England’s national emblem. The important part is that Sheeran himself thinks it’s “cool.”

Ben Affleck

With each passing day, Ben Affleck’s back tattoo seems to reach new lengths, as though it will eventually just cover his whole entire body. The brightly-colored art is always expanding, much to the dismay of his ex-fiancee, Jennifer Lopez, who has called it “awful.”

And of course, not all ink is a mess. Sure, permanently etching something onto your skin is a gamble, but it can pay off.

The Rock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s tribal tattoos are iconic and the superstar has been outspoken about their significance to him, each with its own meaning. From a bull that embodies his evolution to tribal ink that represents his native Hawaiian heritage, they all seem to tell a story.

Elsa Pataky

This could have ended badly, but luckily, Elsa Pataky’s tattoo in honor of Thor paid off. The wife of Chris Hemsworth, aka Thor himself, actually got a tattoo in honor of the comic book character when she was 15. Later, she met Hemsworth and they were married. Eventually, Hemsworth would play Thor. Happily ever after.
