Actor Verne Troyer who became famous from the “Austin Powers” movie franchise has died. A statement provided by Troyer’s representatives that was also posted to his Instagram and Facebook accounts says the 49-year-old actor died Saturday, April 21, 2018. No cause or place of death was given, but the statement discusses depression and suicide, and Troyer had publicly discussed struggling with alcohol addiction. Stars and fans mourned actor Verne Troyer who died Saturday at age 49.
In a statement, the actor was described as an “extremely caring individual” who wanted to make everybody “smile, be happy and laugh.”
Reaction on social media and elsewhere echoed those sentiments.
Mike Myers, who starred with Troyer in the Austin Power films, remembered Troyer as a “beacon of positivity.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter and EW, Myers’ statement said:
“Verne was the consummate professional and a beacon of positivity for those of us who had the honor of working with him. It is a sad day, but I hope he is in a better place. He will be greatly missed.”
Dean Cain recalled the “big life” Troyer led.
