HAS JORGINHO MADE UP HIS MIND?
Napoli midfielder Jorginho has been linked with just about every elite Premier League club over the last year, but over recent months it has become a straight race between Manchester United and Manchester City.
On Sunday, The Sun say that the Italian has decided in favour of Manchester City as his next club, which would come as a blow to Jose Mourinho. There are no quotes in the story, merely the claim that Jorginho’s agent visited Manchester last month and has made it clear to Pep Guardiola that it is the blue half of Manchester that his client would prefer to represent.
FELLAINI WANTED BY EVERYONE
One of the reasons for Manchester United needing a couple of midfielders this summer is the impending retirement of Michael Carrick and the likely departure of Marouane Fellaini. Mourinho has made it clear that he would like to keep the Belgian, but Fellaini wants more regular first-team football.
The Sunday Mirror claim that Fellaini is being chased by six different clubs, all of whom have a chance of signing the Belgian. The list of those clubs in full: Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Monaco, Besiktas, West Ham and Leicester. We can’t imagine that Leicester would a) pay the sort of money required to sign Fellaini or b) be able to attract him to the club.
Also, are PSG really in need of Fellaini? Surely their ambitions are a great deal higher than that…
LENGLET FOR MANCHESTER UNITED
Last weekend, the media claimed that Liverpool were in for Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet. Now it’s Manchester United who are reportedly competing with Barcelona to sign him.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon has an exclusive with the claim that Manchester United were impressed by Lenglet in their Champions League tie, and are prepared to pay his relatively low release clause.
Nixon also writes that Mourinho is prepared to sell Phil Jones, Marco Rojo and Victor Lindelof and that there are also doubts about Chris Smalling. That seems a very ambitious list.
We’ll say what we said last time: Lenglet is probably going to Barcelona.
