Floral prints, matching clothes and retro basketball jerseys are among the most popular fashion trends at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Here’s some of what we’ve seen in the desert this weekend:
1. Flower power
One of the most popular trends over the weekend involved floral prints. Guys often wore button-up short-sleeved shirts in red, blue and green. Women’s fashions included floral gowns, pants, shirts and kimonos, the latter of which were big on their own this year.

2. Seeing double
One of the most eye-catching trends was matching shirts and shorts. The combination often made us do a double-take since it appeared as if the guys were wearing onesies – and a few festival goers were in fact wearing “romp-hims,” the guy version of a romper.

3. Sheer and see-through
For yet another year, a hot look for women was tops, cover-ups, dresses and even pants made of lace, netting, macrame, fringe and other fabrics that functioned like sheer window curtains: a slight distraction that does nothing to obscure what’s behind them. It is a bold fashion statement that most definitely requires sunscreen to avoid really strange tan lines.

4. Throwback time
Instead of wearing the current popular NBA jerseys, many opted for retro basketball tank tops from the Golden State Warriors, Utah Jazz, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors. The retro white Raptor jersey featured a small dinosaur dribbling a basketball and was among the most popular.
5. Jewels of the desert
Body glitter is definitely still a thing, with women sporting it on their arms, shoulders and faces and on their scalps along the part in their hair.
This year, bedazzling was even bigger: people (mostly ladies, but also the occasional guy) glued sparkly faux gemstones to their foreheads and around their eyes. You’d think they would sweat them off in the desert heat, but nope. The secret? Eyelash glue.
6. Braids
Plaited hair in all styles, colors and lengths, some totaling more than two feet (and especially French braids) were a mainstay at Coachella. The hairstyle made a splash on Saturday and Sunday with many women opting for it on the warmer days.
7. Finding your shine
Light-catching sequins were seen on skirts, lingerie-style outfits and even a full-length white coat made entirely of them. Oh, and don’t forget the still-popular gold lamé, too.
