POGBA WILL BE SOLD THIS SUMMER
Oh hey there, big news. It might be less of a bombshell than it would have been a month ago, after Pep Guardiola’s revelation that he was offered Paul Pogba in January. But it’s still meaty when the most expensive player in English football history is reportedly going to be slipped out of a side door.
In the Daily Mail, Chris Wheeler writes that Jose Mourinho has run out of patience with Pogba and will try and move the midfielder out of the club this summer. Wheeler also says that Pogba could be dropped for the upcoming games against Bournemouth and the FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham.
Wheeler also casually mentions that Anthony Martial, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind are off this summer. Mourinho really doesn’t like players who were signed by Louis van Gaal, does he?
LIVERPOOL WANT LENGLET
Tell you what, there aren’t many better French-sounding names than Clement Lenglet. It rolls off the tongue so beautifully you don’t want to let it go. Go on, say it out loud. Clement Lenglet. Clem-Onte Long-Lay. Say it quickly and it sounds like Creme Anglais, which is French for custard.
Anyway, Liverpool apparently want to sign custard in the summer. The Liverpool Echo say that Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a move for the Sevilla defender, who is apparently interesting both Real Madrid and Barcelona and could cost up to £40m.
In fact, the Echo say that Diario AS in Spain reckon that Liverpool are interested, but for some reason link to Teamtalk’s Euro Paper talk. The weird thing is that there is no story on Diario AS linking Lenglet with Liverpool. So we’re a bit stumped.
Hint: Lenglet is not going to move to Liverpool.
MANCHESTER CITY WANT PAULINHO AND OH GOD WE WISH IT WAS THAT ONE
No, it isn’t current Barcelona – and former Tottenham midfielder – Paulinho, although that does give us an idea for Guardiola to take on a number of players whose careers have floundered and see if he can make them brilliant again.
The Daily Mail say that Manchester City are interested in 17-year-old Paulinho, who currently plays for Vasco da Gama but is wanted by both Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. Apparently Atletico have already had a £12m bid rejected and the player has a £25m buyout.
Here’s what we know about Paulinho:
Here’s what we just found out about Paulinho: He’s a wide forward who has played 18 times for Vasco and scored seven times for Brazil’s Under-17 team. He’s definitely going to get those crucial first-team minutes for his development at City or PSG.
AND THE REST
Trent Alexander-Arnold will sign a new Liverpool contract… Pep Guardiola will be given a £200million transfer budget this summer… Tottenham could approach Bryan Cristante or Andre Gomes to replace Mousa Dembele.
