Ariana Grande is being called the “rudest celebrity” by YouTube star James Charles, who was CoverGirl’s first-ever male spokesperson.
The outspoken makeup enthusiast has famously met a ton of A-list stars since becoming an internet celebrity, and in a recent YouTube video, one of his friends asked who the “rudest celebrity” he’s ever met was. He immediately responded with Ariana Grande’s name.
“I really like Ariana, I guess I just had a really crappy experience with her,” he added.
As Charles explained, he went to the singer’s latest concert in Los Angeles, where he met Kim Kardashian (who was “really nice,” by the way). He posted “a bunch of stories” from his night out and woke up the next morning to Instagram notifications that Grande had followed him and direct messaged him.

BACK TO SLIDE
In the months before the concert, Charles had experienced his biggest public scandal when he tweeted, “I can’t believe we’re going to Africa today omg what if we get Ebola?” He had since apologized for the comment — and CoverGirl didn’t drop him — but he was still considered controversial.
After Grande’s fans started tweeting about her following him and asking for her to unfollow him, she did.
“Literally hours after she had followed me in the first place,” Charles remembered.
“I have always looked up to Ariana and I think she is one of the most talented vocalists of our generation, but it just sucked that, like, I was literally getting bullied by her fans and instead of just ignoring it and building a friendship, she literally just listened to them and unfollowed, which is like saying that that’s okay to do,” he explained of why he considers her the “rudest celebrity” he’s ever met.
“To this day, I don’t really have hard feelings about it,” he added. “I think she’s so talented.”
