Mark Consuelos has a lot to say about the backlash his wife Kelly Ripa received after he posted a photo of her wearing a bikini.
“I wanted to take a couple of days to weigh in,” the actor, 46, commented on Instagram, via People. “Probably should’ve earlier arguably. But I wanted to be above it. Well, now I’m not. I posted this pic of the woman I most admire. As a playful tribute to my wife who I’m proud of in endless ways.”
“She works extremely hard in her professional life and her commitment to exercise, healthy diet is admirable and the benefits show. Yes she’s wearing a bikini at age 47 and will no doubt wear one for many years to come,” he explained.
Then he took a moment to talk directly to the men who shammed Ripa adding, “I suggest you bring it up with me if ever I’m lucky enough to run into you. I’m going back to my vacation now… thanks for allowing me to express myself.”
He also signed off by telling Ripa to “keep killing it.”
Earlier this week, Consuelos posted a photo of Ripa in a bikini calling her his “sexy one,” but some followers didn’t agree.
“Kelly’s gorgeous, but isn’t there a cutoff age where age-appropriate comes into play?” wrote one. “Just because you can rock a bikini, doesn’t mean you should.”
The couple has been together for nearly 20 years and share three kids, Michael, 20, Lola, 16 and Joaquin, 15.
