RAIOLA SOUNDING OUT POGBA SUITORS
Oh boy. We start of with the punchiest of claims, courtesy of the Daily Mirror. They claim that Mino Raiola, the agent of Paul Pogba, is sounding out potential suitors regarding a move away from Manchester United.
Pogba has struggled in the last couple of months, first injured and then out of form. That has led to Jose Mourinho leaving him on the bench in favour of Scott McTominay or Jesse Lingard. Raiola does not like that, the Sunday Mirror believe.
Pogba has apparently told friends that he is prepared to ride out the issues, but Raiola is still looking for potential options anyway. We’ll tell him now: The only clubs that could afford Pogba and might want him are Paris St Germain and Real Madrid. So it shouldn’t take long to make the calls.
SOME LEWANDOWSKI TO ARSENAL GUFF
To Mundo Deportivo now, and a piece of gossip that we can’t even try to get on board with. Arsenal are apparently close to pulling off the signing of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich. Yeah, we know.
For all Arsenal’s issues this season, they’re probably OK for a centre forward. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Danny Welbeck might not be the best forward line in Europe, but there’s enough quality there that they don’t need a new first-choice striker.
But the biggest barrier is WHY THE SHUDDERING BUGGER WOULD LEWANDOWSKI MOVE TO ARSENAL? He’s got one more big move in him, he knows Real Madrid are interested in him and he’s playing in the Champions League for years. But sure, he’ll join a club with an uncertain short-term future and who probably won’t be playing in the Champions League next season.
REAL VS LIVERPOOL FOR ALISSON
Liverpool’s interest in Roma goalkeeper Alisson has hardly been a secret. But it does now look as if they might miss out on one of the goalkeepers of tomorrow.
In the Sunday Mirror, Steve Bates writes that Real Madrid are seriously keen on Alisson, having accepted that they won’t sign David de Gea this summer. Unfortunately, he also writes that Alisson is more keen on Real Madrid than Liverpool. Suppose he can hardly be blamed for that call.
We even have quotes:
“Real Madrid’s interest in me makes me happy, I won’t deny that. I’m very happy when a club speaks well of me, it means I’m doing well and that they’re following me. Imagine when a club like Real Madrid does that… but for now I’m focused on Roma.”
A not-so-subtle hint…
