EVERTON EYEING WILSHERE MOVE
Now you can understand why Jack Wilshere might want to leave Arsenal. A fresh start could provide the hard reset on his career that you could reasonably argue that he needs.
However, for that hard reset to be effective Wilshere surely needs to move outside of his comfort zone. The Daily Mirror report on Wednesday that Everton are interested in signing Wilshere on a free transfer this summer.
Now we’re sure that is true, but is there any point leaving Arsenal for Everton? If that’s your move, surely you would simply stay at Arsenal and hope to be their leader into a new era.
That said, the Mirror do say that Everton are offering more cash.
LIVERPOOL AFTER ANOTHER LEIPZIG STAR
Liverpool are already preparing a ‘Welcome to Merseyside from Leipzig’ party for Naby Keita this summer. Might as well use those banners and party hats twice.
The Independent reckon that Liverpool are at the front of queue to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, although there are plenty of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs circling. One of those is Manchester United apparently.
Werner would be an interesting sign for Liverpool, on the basis that it’s very difficult to see where he gets into the front three. He would be a wonderful Plan B – sorry, Danny Ings – but with the amount of interest in him, surely he would go to a club and be the main man?
MAN UNITED WANT GAYA
This is the second time in two days we have heard from Italian outlet Rai Sport. It’s always good to add another name to the spurious bullsh*t roundabout.
Their latest shout is that Manchester United want to sign Valencia right-back Jose Luis Gaya. He has been the subject of reported interest from Chelsea and Arsenal in recent transfer windows.
The theory is that Matteo Darmian will join Juventus at the end of the season, meaning that United will source a replacement in that position. Gaya could be that guy.
AND THE REST
Arsenal have held talks with Corinthians over a deal for midfielder Maycon… Southampton hope to appoint Mark Hughes before the FA Cup tie against Wigan on Sunday… Sam Allardyce wants to sign Phil Jones from Manchester United if he stays on as Everton manager.
